The Sad Horse

I wonder how long this horse was tied up like that. Sometimes the Mexicans leave their horses tied like that for many hours. I don't know much about horses. Maybe they don't mind it but it sure looks sad to me. But I am not a horse. What do I know?

  1. I am not a horse, either but I know some people are cruel to animals. They have feelings, too. Maybe the owner should be tied up for a long time and see how he likes it. God put animals on earth and expects humans to care for them and treat them well.

  3. I think the Mexicans take very good care of their Livelyhood and I would not try to force our American opinions and beliefs on them. When in Rome... God gave man dominion over animals, he killed an animal to cloth Adam and Eve!

  4. Thank you for your feed back. Someone said that to me once in San Blas when a little puppy was tied to a tree in the hot sun across the street from where I was living. It had no water or food and couldn't reach it's mother. I would sneak over and pet it when no one was looking and I cried for the poor little thing. My friend said it wasn't my business and then it died.... I felt terrible that I didn't try to do more for it. Patricia

  5. I think I would have taken the puppy water and food. I don't think that the owners would have minded. Also the horse too, if it was being starved or dehydrated I would feed and water it too. Perhaps the owner was in an accident? who Knows?

  6. Hi Brenda, I wanted to do that for the puppy. I just didn't have the courage to go against the social pressure to as they say, Do as the Romans... and not interfere. What we think we will do and what we actually do under pressure are not always the same thing. I still feel badly that I didn't just take the rope off the puppy and let him go free. It is hard when you live in a foreign country to know what to do in situations like that. Patricia

  7. The horse looks underfed and that is what would bother me in Lake Chapala or anywhere. As I have considered living in Chapala at some point. However horses can go with out water for hours- as they do in the wild so that part is not that bad. The puppy, tough call, but I think I would given it water and food. It is hard to believe that locals would get that upset over feeding a puppy.

  8. Thank you for your comment. From my experience in San Blas, locals don't like you going into their yard at all and they certainly don't like you getting into what they consider as their business. But you are right about it being a problem sometimes here, seeing animals suffering. There are also situations in this area where people don't even have enough food. Someone said at a lecture a couple of Sundays ago that a girl here killed herself because she was so hungry. Patricia
