Wednesday Market in Ajijic

These puppies were for sale for a hundred pesos. I felt sorry for them but Chico wouldn't have liked another dog here.

This poor street dog was begging at Salvadors. He got some of my breakfast.

Lunch at Lunch Time Restaurant and meeting Shih Tzu Puppies

Yesterday my friend Mimi took me to a restaurant that I had walked past many times but not gone into and I was surprised to see what a nice place I had been missing. The food was delicious. The owner was friendly and best of all, she brought in three of her puppies. Little Shih Tzus. I wanted one so much but it would not be fair to Chico to bring in another animal. He already has to put up with the cat. But I will drop by there from time to time and hopefully the owner will show them to me again as they grow up.

Morning Thoughts

Sometimes I hear people saying that it only rains at night here. That just isn't true. It rained last night and it is still raining at noon today. I am stuck in my house and I was looking forward to a morning swim. Maybe it will be nicer later on today. The rain is making the plants grow. The hills are green and my garden is growing quickly. I planted more star jasmine and gardenias over the weekend.

I think the rain has stopped now. Here are some photos of my garden. I had to take these from inside my house because it is still dripping outside. I also took a photo of Chico sitting on one of my beds.

That mess on my dresser is my attempts at waterproofing my I pod. For now, it worked on one and not the others but I keep on trying.
Olive doesn't want to go out in the rain so she complains to me whenever I pass by her. She is sitting there so she can see when it stops raining and she can go outside.

Chico is bored too. He wants to go out for a walk.

My friend Ivanka in her new house with the Dogs

Today, my friend Ivanka moved her things into her new home on Constitution. It has a huge back yard. The dogs love it. We had breakfast at the little restaurant across the street from her house. It was good food. Ivanka didn't like her pictures so I removed them. She was very tired from the move. But you can see part of her house and the interesting way the owner painted the chairs and put cups on the walls. Her two dogs love the house.

Above is Carmen. I don't know if she is the owner or not but I am guessing yes because she was so helpful and friendly.

Father's Day photos

I went into town to look for some Father's Day celebrations. No luck. Just a normal Sunday afternoon in the plaza. But I took a few photos.

On Mother's Day the plaza has many flower stands. I found only one stand yesterday for Father's Day. Check out the words on the balloon.

This man was in the plaza with his daughter and he agreed to pose for me.

I sat on a park bench for awhile next to this man. We had a conversation about Father's Day. He has one son. He was very friendly. I always appreciate it when people are willing to talk with me about their lives, even though we speak different languages. The feelings are easy to understand.

I put on two photos of this man because I loved the expression on his face in the above photo. I think he was talking about his grown son.

I am putting this photo on so you can see how green the hills are behind the church. It is nice to see everything so green now.

As I was walking home I took this photo of the horse and the one below of a man and his son. He was just going into a grocery store but he agreed to stop and let me photograph him. The man standing behind him was curious. He was probably wondering why I would want to take a photo the young man and his son.

I love walking around Ajijic. People are so friendly. If I get lonely at home all I have to do is walk into town and I feel much better by the time I get back home again.

Morning Thoughts

It is an overcast, quiet Sunday morning. I have no plans for the day. I will probably take Chico for a long walk. Maybe have breakfast at Salvador's. I just walked outside and there is a very light drizzle. Maybe it is going to rain. Hard to tell. I must take my umbrella.

News about the American flag at the Lake Chapala Society. As soon as I posted the photo of it on my blog, all torn up and threadbare, one of my readers, Harold Oldham, wrote to me about it. He said to contact the American Legion. I sent them a photo of it. Immediately I got a message back from Vince Britton saying he will replace it and take the old one and destroy it. He is going to contact LCS and do that. I think he was shocked at the condition of it. He wrote, Don't ever let it get like that again.  I will take a photo of the new flag when it is up. He may even replace the Mexican flag. Don't know about the Canadian one. We will see.

I am swimming as often as I can during the week. I try to get in eighty laps. Almost twice what I swam for years. It is all in the mind. Belief is the first step to doing something. People often write to me expressing their fears that they won't be able to move here. I tell them, first step is to believe that you can do it.  Everything else will follow.

I will take my camera on my walk today. Maybe take more photos of the plaza. I read that Colon is going to be blocked off this afternoon for some sort of celebration. I can't keep up with all the celebrations here. Maybe the sun will be out by then.

My garden loves this weather.

My friend Ivanka. Her birthday party

Last week my friend Ivanka invited me to her birthday party at Ricky's restaurant in Ajijic. It was a lot of fun.

My friend Allison Bober-- House and pet sitter, English teacher

Chico was so excited to see our friend Allison at our door this morning. Allison has a lot of house sitting jobs set up and is also teaching. If you are interested, here is her contact information for teaching or house and pet sitting. She does long and short term and last minute bookings as a sitter.

Allison.bober1@gmail.com. Mexico cell: 331 299 0730.    I highly recommend her.

I wanted to add this photo of Allison and Chico because I love it so much.

The Lake Chapala Society in the Rainy Season

I spent yesterday morning with my friend Loretta in the coffee shop at the Lake Chapala Society. Not much happening there. Low season. We were bored, as you can see from the photos of Loretta and Chico. All we had to think about was the awful condition of the American Flag and what we should do about it, if anything. (I don't know what Chico was thinking about. Maybe another cookie. He likes them. Me too. Unfortunately.) But the grounds are lush and beautiful from the rain, even though not much has fallen yet. I took another photo of the Koi pond. My son says that it is the most photographed Koi pond in the world. He teased me so much about taking so many photos of it earlier on in my blog that I quit taking any more. But it was a morning with nothing to do but worry about the American flag, take photos of the Koi pond and eat fresh baked cookies from the restaurant. I had better get back to the spa and swimming.
