Morning thoughts

This will be short because I don't know if I will be able to publish it. My internet has been mostly down for about ten days now. I heard that some people vandalized the cell tower to get parts. So San Antonio has been disconnected. From time to time I can send and receive e mails. And sometimes I can get on you tube for the news. I heard that the parts have been ordered. No telling when they will be installed and the internet will be up and running again. Of course we still have to pay for the service. Crossing my fingers as I try to publish this. The first and second attempts failed.

Ambrosia Gold Apples

These apples are named Ambrosia Gold. The are the sweetest apples I have ever eaten. I bought one from Walmart the other day. I decided to take the long, hot walk up there for some more. When I got to the cash register, the woman didn't know the price. She asked someone else and she didn't know. So she just swept the two apples aside and told me that I couldn't buy them. I begged her, sweat running down my face, telling her I had walked a long ways just for them. She finally took pity on me and guessed at a price, rang them up and I paid and left for the long walk home. I am guessing that they may have come down from Washington or Oregon. There were all different kinds of apples there but these are my favorite.

An evening at home

The sun is going down on another hot day. I looked at the weather report and it shows rains coming at the end of next week. That will be a relief. It has been too hot to take long walks. We just sit around . We, means my little Mexican family, Chico, me and Olive. Chico is looking out the French doors in the first photo. And the next photo I took of myself. The last one is Olive. She sleeps through these hot days.

My floor fan quit working. My refrigerator quit working and my internet barely works. I don't know if this will get posted or not.

Fresh Pineapple juice

A nice Mexican family now sell fresh pressed pineapple juice from their truck in San Antonio. They park near Super Lake. There is a large crusher in the back of their truck. You can buy a small glass up to a large glass. I buy an eight ounce glass for twenty five pesos. They said it is the juice from one pineapple. Plus there is also some pulp . It is delicious.

Dia de la Santa Cruz

I found out what holiday it is today. Día de la Santa Cruz, day of the cross. It is a holiday celebrating the construction workers. There will be crosses at all the construction sites and buckets of cold beer. They will make as much noise as they can today. I hear fireworks going off all over town.

Morning thoughts

I woke up this morning to sounds of a gun shooting off and a brass band playing. I checked Mexican holidays but didn't see one for today. Maybe I will find out later. I have to go to the Laguna Plaza to pay my internet bill. They have been charging me for two lines for months and keep sending me to telcel and back to telmex. I have been to both offices many times, trying to fix the problem. I only have one line.

I will see today if they finally figured it out. The woman last time suggested that I just pay for the extra bill. That she couldn't shut the line down unless I paid it. It was almost eighty dollars. I said it wasn't my bill.

Didn't matter. And these people have been extremely rude to me each time I have tried to figure it out with them. They practically kick me out of the office. They don't know how to fix the problem so they want me gone.  I am dreading having to confront them again today. I spend a lot of my time trying to get things done right with them, both telmex and telcel.

Yesterday I had dinner with my friends Jack and Virginia. Jack said that he now had ilox. It is a new company that sells fiber optic internet. He said it is extremely fast, so fast that the information on the sites can't keep up with it. And it is the same price as I am paying now for this service that almost disappears at times. Maybe I will go to their office after dealing with telcel this morning.

It is the very hottest time of the year now. So hot that walking around in the afternoons is difficult. It is still cool so I had better take off.
