Morning Thoughts--Real Estate is NOT My Business

Today I found out that the cute little house I put on my blog a few posts back was listed with an agency. If you are interested in it, please go to Accesslakechapala.com and put in listing number 14544. The rent is now 800 dollars a month and the furniture was all taken out.

I had recommended this place to several people and now it is more expensive and unfurnished. After this experience, I have made some new rules for myself. The first rule is not to put any more places for rent on my blog.

The second rule is not to agree to help people find rentals. I realized, once again, after this experience that it is a losing proposition for me. I am NOT in the real estate business. I do not make anything from putting on places for rent or helping people find places. ( I know, I have written this before after being very frustrated. But then I forget and try again to help people. But hopefully this time I will stick with my new rules.)

What actually happens is that people start contacting me, asking me to go look at places for them, or to recommend places for them. I get caught up in it and I waste my time walking all over town.  Then people get mad at me for not finding them a place to live..... (I  don't even have a car, or a phone) Or they don't like what I found for them. People get paid big bucks to do this kind of work. I am retired. I have a different life and one that I need to get on with, for myself.....

I hope my readers will understand.   It is for my own health and peace of mind that I have to bow out of this kind of stuff. If you are looking for a rental, there are agencies in town. One is Accesslakechapala.com  They have nice video tours of places for rent. Check it out.

Rentals will no longer show up on this blog and I will no longer recommend any places..... This is not my business and I am glad to finally forget about it.  I could never be a real estate agent. Too stressful! I am going to spend my free time swimming at the San Juan Cosala Spa instead......

Chico's First Bus Ride

I started to get very tired on the way back home from the French Bakery. The local bus was coming towards us so I thought I would try to get Chico on it. I hadn't done that before because usually there are signs on the buses that say No Mascotes.....  But I was tired and willing to take the chance. The bus driver was nice enough to let us all on. Chico seemed to enjoy it.  Loretta took this photo of him on my lap. The other photos were taken after we got off the bus and walked the rest of the way home. That sure is a long walk just for one pastry.

Walking home down the Side Streets

We Reached Our Goal. The French Bakery.

This man, I think, is one of the owners of the French bakery. He speaks French. No English.
My choice for the day. Pastry filled with almond paste and chocolate. Yummmmm

Walk on the Carretera towards West Ajijic part 3

Corner of Colon and the Carretera

Two photos above are of an inexpensive motel near colon and on the carretera.

Lunch on Colon.

I lost the card with the restaurant's information on it. But it is almost to the carretera on Colon. They had a delicious carrot and ginger soup for forty pesos.

And Yet Another Walk to the French Bakery

This time I walked with Chico and my friend Loretta to the French Bakery. I walked on the opposite side of the street to take slightly different pictures. We all loved the pastry at the end.

We started our walk at LCS after meeting this lovely woman and her two dogs.

We walked up to the plaza first.

Morning Thoughts---Skunks and Scorpions

Scorpion belt buckles. these are real Scorpions.
The weather is starting to get nicer now. More sun. I love walking around in the sunshine. Chico does too. He has had a hard couple of days. Two nights ago, he ran after a skunk in the yard. It was late.  I just got up to let him out the door and went back to bed, not noticing the smell of skunk in the yard.  How do I know that he got skunked? Guess. He came back inside smelling so badly that I kicked him out of my bed and made him sleep on the chaise lounge. He kept rubbing at his nose. Poor guy. It must be much worse for a dog because their noses are so sensitive.

He had to go to the groomer for a bath the next day. He hates that. He knew what was happening and we had to chase him around the yard. Now he is afraid to go outside in the night. I received a little gift from him in the morning in my office area. I have heard that dogs have no memory of what they have done wrong unless it just happened. It is hard to believe this because every time he does this, he acts guilty. I don't even need to say anything to him. He just lowers his head and shakes when he sees that I have been in the room where he has been bad.  I don't blame him. I hate skunks too. Once you are skunked, you never forget it.

Then there are the scorpions. My landlord has a woman friend living here. Two nights ago she found a huge scorpion in her bed. Then two  mornings later, when I was letting Chico out and it was still a little dark, I saw a strange shaped shadow near my foot. I turned on the light and it was a scorpion. It was alive too.

The day before, my place had been sprayed for bugs. I guess that brought the scorpion out of hiding. I killed him with my shoe. Chico and I had walked right past it and I was barefooted. We were lucky that time. Years ago, Chico was stung by a scorpion in his dog house. He never went into it again. I hope he doesn't decide not to go outside at night anymore because of the skunk. We all have long memories when it comes to painful things......

Ajijic Wednesday Market part 2

How would you like a belt buckle like that?
It started getting crowded in the late afternoon
