A Good Morning

I woke up this morning with a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. Why? Nothing different is happening in my life. Maybe because the sun is out again. No more rain for awhile longer. Or maybe it is because I now have the FM3. Or because all my furniture in the States has been sold. Two more steps to freedom, to living in Mexico. Now I don't have to fly back to the States at all except when I WANT to go. When will that be? Only to sell my mobile home or to see my family and friends. No other reasons to go there.

Life is too hard for me in the States now. I am used to the easy life of Mexico. I don't have a phone. No irritating sales people call me just when I am sitting down to eat dinner, intruding on my privacy. I don't have a car so I have no unexpected expenses. No car insurance or gas bills. No waiting in traffic or looking for parking spaces. No frustrations or fears from bad drivers almost causing me to wreck and possibly even taking my life.

I don't own anything here so I have no major responsibilities. Even Chico, the dog, belongs to my landlord. If I have to see the doctor or the dentist, I can afford it here. Soon I will have their full coverage medical insurance for less than four hundred dollars a year. That alone is enough reason to live in Mexico. I know it is a good system because I have used it. I have good doctors here and they treat me with respect. They have time to talk with me. I am not rushed through the office or made to sit for hours waiting for them in cold rooms wearing nothing but a thin paper robes.

Getting around is inexpensive on buses and they run every fifteen minutes. Almost every day here is sunny. Rain like we had last week is unusual. I have no heating or cooling bills because it is never too hot or too cold. I have no bills except my rent. I have an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables. My groceries are one fourth of what they would cost me in the States and they are far fresher. I buy them from the farmers.

I can even afford to eat out any time I want here. I have many friends and they have free time to spend with me. I live near the beautiful lake. I watch the sunset every evening. What more could I ask for?

No wonder I woke up this morning feeling so satisfied. Every day I feel more and more like this is my home. I am grateful to the Mexican people for allowing me to share my life with them. I love their values. I find most Mexicans to be warm, loving and generous. I am grateful for everything and everyone in my life.

  1. WOW. Very well phrased and a big THANK YOU for posting this comment publicly. When I think of all the 'stuff' I must first unload before I make the move to Mexico, I become overwhelmemd; must take baby steps, I remind myself. Today I will take yet ANOTHER load of household items to a charity, then get my hands dirty in the muddy back yard in an attempt to get it spruced up for selling the house in the Spring/Summer.

I am so glad you are feeling so positive; your mood motivates all of us, your daily readers. So, do something REALLY fun today & tell us about it this evening! I can't wait to find out what it will be ....

  4. Hi Gayle, Thank you for writing. I am glad it inspired you. I understand what you are going through. It took me two years to unload my stuff and still I have the mobile home to sell. I went to the parade today. Had a wonderful time. I will put on photos as soon as I get a chance. Your Friend, Patricia
