Have you ever considered retiring in Mexico? Have you wondered about daily living in a foreign country where you don't speak the language? What about hotels, hospitals, doctors, restaurants, banks, real estate and cultural activities? This is a diary of my daily life in Lake Chapala and other areas of Mexico. I don't speak Spanish. I am a single retired woman. I hope this blog will give you an idea of what to expect if you decide to make the move.

Broken Ankle
Last night I fell in the water and broke my ankle. I have to go to the hospital in Guadalajara for an operation. So I won't be on my computer for a few days.
Pat Please be careful & take care of yourself…I am going to miss seeing your post & reading your daily adventures…Maybe this could be another excellent post about the excellent Health Care you are receiving in Mexico at a fraction of the cost here in the USA…maybe taking your camera with you & a note pad to Guadalajara would be a good idea…Take care…Get well soon. Tu amigo Peter/Pedro from Chicago
I'm so sorry to hear that. Best wishes for a quick recovery. We'll miss your beautiful pictures and wonderful comments. We hope to be in Ajijic soon -- just need to sell the house & we will be there. Can't wait to see you and Lake Chapala again.
Patricia, I did not read your note to me at mytripjournal.com until tonight. Now I've read your blogspot and see that you've broken your ankle. I recommend my orthopedist in Guadalajara in case you require more medical attention. I had two hip replacements in the last two years, both surgeries performed in Guadalajara. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope we can write back and forth soon. regina in cuenca
