Lake Chapala Society July Festival 2009

The Festival to raise money for various nonprofit organizations was very successful. I went at ten in the morning and there weren't many people there but by one in the afternoon it was crowded. I was surprised to see so many people. I didn't know there were that many fulltimers in town. There were food booths. The library had a book sale. There was an art auction and there was music and dancing. I sat with my friend Don for a little while in the outdoor coffee shop. He talked about all the new people he has been meeting here and how interested he is at the variety of points of views. He said that in the States he mostly stuck to his own kind. When he was in the military as a pilot he only saw other pilots and their families. When he was a businessman, he was only friends with other businessmen. Here he meets people from all walks of life. He said he is learning a lot about people, becoming more tolerant. That seems like a good thing.
