Ajijic, July 5th More Mariachi Photos

Get that little boy some food. He is so hungry, he eating his shirt.

There were very few people at the Real de Chapala. Maybe it was because of the ban on booze. This was election day. I don't know all the rules about no booze because they were serving white wine. But only white wine. Who knows why that was allowed and not red wine. Does red wine make you drunker?????

After I swam at the park in Chapala and ate a hot dog at the American Legion I took the bus home. Chito was on the same bus, on his way to the Real de Chapala. He is one of the Mariachis. We walked there together through my neighborhood, La Floresta. I love this area of Ajijic.

Above is the Commander of the American Legion Post. Tom Keehnen is his name. He is taking a little break from grilling hamburgers and hot dogs. He said that on the 4th of July they had about a hundred people. That is a lot of organizing to do. The women are in charge of the bar and the restaurant and the men are in charge of special events. I said, Sounds like the women have more control. He said that the special events bring in more money. It looks like he has a lot of work and maybe it is taking a toll on him. He has six months more as the Commander.

The flag decorations are still up at the American Legion. They were allowed to serve alcohol. That might have contributed to the huge crowd. Most of the other restaurants were empty.
The birds are using two trees near my house for nesting places. The branches are filled with them. I don't know if they are Cranes or Egrets. I don't know the difference between them. If you look closely you can see one flying by an electrical wire. Sometimes they get caught up in the wires and fry themselves and the electricity goes off for a few blocks. It is very noisy there and the lower branches are white from droppings. It is interesting to see but I kind of feel sorry for the people living around them. Sometimes the electricity will be off for an entire day and this happens often. Poor birds too. What a way to die.
