Morning at the Lake Chapala Society and a Birthday Party

Yesterday I made it to the Lake Chapala Society and had a cup of hot chocolate while visiting with friends. It was great to get out. I also got eight books from the library. Then I went to a birthday party in a nice restaurant, Hacienda Ajijic, for my friend Stacey. She has only been here one year and she had over forty people at her party. She is a social person. She calls herself, A cruise director without a ship.

It was a lot of fun. I saw friends I hadn't seen since before my accident and I met a man who lives around on the other side of the lake. He said we could go and visit with him sometime. So Stacey, Dawn and I are going to do that soon. He said he is the only Gringo living in that town. He doesn't speak Spanish so he is teaching the entire town to speak English. Creative. He also said it is much cheaper to live over there. I want to check it out for myself.

Stacey has only lived here one year but she had a restaurant full of friends to help celebrate her birthday.

This is the Hacienda Ajijic Restaurant. Beautiful murals on the walls.

At first I wasn't going to go to the party. I am not good in crowds. My friend Dawn said she would drive me. I am so glad I went. It was a lot of fun and I saw many friends I hadn't seen for months.

  1. The man across the lake sounds like a real gem, my guess is that he is learning a ton of Spanish and in the process is giving back to his neighbors ten fold-class act.

  5. So glad you got out to the party, Patricia. It sounds like fun. I have a friend who sounds like Stacey. I will have to tell her the line about being a "cruise director without a ship!"

  8. Hi Cheryl, Thank you for your comment. Yes, Stacey is a special person. I don't think I have that many friends in my entire life and it only took her one year here to collect them. Patricia
