More Thoughts on EVIL

Of course there IS evil. Maybe all we can do is try to keep it from overwhelming our individual lives, not give it power. This world can be pretty awful. All we see on the news are the bad things that are happening here. I rarely watch the news anymore. Well, I don't have a television either. I don't miss it. I have enough trouble just managing my own life without obsessing on all the bad things that are happening in other parts of the world, things that I cannot change. In my own small way, I will do whatever I can to not fall under the spell of evil and fear.

The AA and Al-Anon words come to mind here: God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Good words to live by but not easy words--by any means.

  1. I believe the Dark Side is always looking for a way in. That's it's nature. And I believe we're particularly susceptible when we're weary. When our energy is low - physical, emotional, mental, spiritual. Darkness is a predator. Yet by merely thinking or speaking words that uplift us (joy, flowers, rainbows, sunshine, a loved one's name, etc.) we raise our energy. We kick it out, creating a buffer.

When we need to do that (so simple) most is often when it's most difficult to pull up what we know and apply it. Yet we prevail - amen - and as the song says, "...we get by with a little help from our friends....". The Gospel, if ever it was written.

I also believe words are medicine, and if our intention is to heal - with every touch, be it eye contact, written word, spoken word, physical touch, or thought...then we do good every time we interact with this world.

Small things perhaps, yet we never know the ripples...Often we live forever on words once offered us....pulling them up time after time... remembering how they made us feel... and always will. Medicine words. Food for the soul.

    Nourishment at its best.

  3. Good morning Patricia -

What inspired me to write that comment was, of course, your blog. Your words and photos. The saying "...a picture is worth a thousand words..." is so true.

You dispense such good medicine. When you reach out here you dispense truth and courage, valuable information, inspiration, beauty, bravery and openness, willingness, tenacity... and on and on.

Very powerful stuff! And what better medicine than that to combat evil?

With every action we teach people How to Be or How Not to Be.

You are a healer, no doubt. Not to mention a marvelous example of How to Be.

    Oh my yes.
