Morning Thoughts

I am finally back into my Mexico routines. Yesterday I went to Chapala for the first time since returning. I loved being back there. I lived in Chapala for four months when I first arrived here. The town is so full of life and energy, even during the week.

I have a house sitting job there in a few weeks. I am looking forward to spending a few days walking the malecon and exploring the stores. Maybe I will try swimming in the park pool. It looked beautiful yesterday and no one was in it. I used to swim in that pool four days a week. It is shallow and large so the sun really heats it up. There are changing rooms that can be locked, if you bring your own lock. Sometimes it isn't very clean but other times it is beautiful. The cost is only thirty pesos. Sure beats the admission price out at the San Juan Cosala hot springs spa. It is now 200 pesos.

I just looked at the weather forecast for the rest of this month. Mostly overcast. But not cold. Just overcast and thunderstorms. We have not had enough rain. You can see from the photos that I have been posting that the lake is very far out right now.

Yesterday I had my favorite lunch, Fish Veracruz, at the American Legion. A new waiter is working there now. He works hard when the card players are outside and ordering lunches. But he still has time to be friendly.

I remember the woman who was working there the last time I went. It was crowded because of the Writer's Group. It took almost an hour to get our lunches. She was so happy that we were patient that when we left she gave us all hugs. I will never forget that. So many Mexicans are like that. It is the humanity showing through that is often lost in the pressures of living up in the States. I am so glad to be back here where life is more relaxed.
