Sunday Boat RIde Across the Lake

I went on the boat ride with my friend Valerie. It was a lot of fun. On the way back we were the only customers. It was an overcast day but not too cold. We had an hour to walk around San Luis Soyatlan before the boat returned to Ajijic. It is only 75 pesos each way. You can go and even stay overnight and come back the next day or the day after that. It runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. It leaves the dock in Ajijic at 11a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.  From San Luis Soyatlan, the times are: 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. So you see, if you take that 5 p.m. boat out you can't come back the same day. They say it is a sunset ride. That might be fun. I was thinking of taking it over and spending a night or two in San Luis Soyatlan and then coming back on the boat. It might be an interesting of days and then I could get to know that town a little bit. It looks like a relaxing place. Valerie told me that expats are starting to move over there now. It is much less expensive than it is here.
This looks to me like a great job

  1. personally, i love san luis. but keep in mind that it's WAY different than ajijic and environs. first of all, there are no big grocery stores there, so you'll have to be going from abarotte to carnicernia to do your shopping. and most people don't speak english.

the good news is that, as far as i know, they have inexpensive satellite TV and internet, which my little place of san cristobal zapotitlan on the south shore did not!

but, honestly, i really think you need a car to live in san luis and be happy. just some things to consider! just remember, the south shore is totally NOT the north shore!

  2. Hi Barb, Thank you for writing. Yes, I can understand what you are saying. It is very different over there. One must be more independent to enjoy that life style and I also think that having a car would help. P
