Seeing things with New Eyes

It is another beautiful morning here in Ajijic. I have no plans for the day. I will just put Chico on a leash and see where he takes us. He loves to walk into town, sniff the flowers and pee on them. I do too. I mean that I love to sniff the flowers, not pee on them. I will leave the peeing up to Chico. He is the expert.

We may stop by Marie's and see her new haircut. She lives in the place that is like a park on 16th of Sept. It is behind the huge metal blue door. She told me last night that all the apartments in there are now rented. People stay there for years. One woman is in her 90s and she has no plans to move out. I don't blame her.

This week end there is going to be an art fair in town. Artists will be displaying their work all down the street. It costs ten pesos to see it. I am going to write an article about it for Accesslakechapala.com.  I am running out of subjects because I have been writing for two years on that site.

The Day of the Dead is coming up soon. I enjoy that holiday. There is so much excitement in the air and the children love it. This is the beginning of the holiday season. The winter people are slowly starting to come into town. It is nice to see old friends again.

The weather is changing. Today my yard is full of dry leaves from the trees and we haven't had rain for awhile. The mountains are beginning to dry out. It is cooler in the mornings and evenings but still very comfortable. I love this weather.

Sometimes I get into that pink cloud of loving this area. Other times I am too self absorbed in my problems to look up and see how lucky I am to be living here in all this natural beauty. That is part of the fun of new people. They see things with new eyes. Old eyes tend to take things for granted. Maybe my morning prayer should be, God, please grant me the gift of NEW EYES today......

  1. I think we all take for granted the things around us especially when we've lived in an area for awhile. I would say that you see new things all the time because your pictures really do tell your daily story and they are all different, yes, even those from the Wednesday market! Keep 'em coming!

  3. This is just a lovely post. I love the area too and can't tell you how much I enjoy tuning in nearly every day to see pictures and a little slice of life Lakeside. I visit my father, who lives in the area, a couple of times a year. Your blog helps fill the gaps. Please keep up the great work!
