Villa Eucaliptos Bed and Breakfast in Ajijic

Above is a photo of Ralph Moniz. He is the owner of the Villa Eucaliptos Bed and Breakfast. He is holding a little puppy I found on the street as I was on my way to take photos. His dog is interested in what is going on with the puppy. Ralph is a wonderful man. He agreed to keep the puppy and try to find a home for it. I walked all over the neighborhood trying to find out where it lived. Everyone seemed to agree that the poor thing must have been dumped.
One of the bedrooms. It opens out to a little patio by the pool.

The Villa Eucalipto is on 16 de Sept. No. 127. It is just a block and a half from the lake. It is a beautiful place. If you are interested in staying there, you can e mail Ralph at villaeucaliptos@gmail.com or look online at www.villaeucaliptos.com or call 52 376 766 1400. I highly recommend this place.

  1. Thanks for referring this location, as well as the Laguna B&B. I knew about the B&B already, from Oaxacan friends who have reservations there sometime in November, during some art show they're attending in Ajijic.

I may be coming to Ajijic in mid-Feb, but for only 1 week; so I'll check these places for a possible stay. (Probably the one with the pool!) I will investigate long-term places to rent beginning in, hopefully, Nov/Oct 2010. I'm also checking out Mazatlan, Morelia and Oaxaca as potential places to live-need to get a 'feel' for a place, right? But, like you, my preference is to live near water. (I think it's cool you thought to take an inflatable kayak w/you! Get that thing blown up already & take 'er out! We want photos of you, IN THE KAYAK, on the lake!)

I like your photos WITH comments, by the way - especially the ones with people, flora, veggies, products for sale, etc. Nice to get confirmation of what I'm seeing in the photo. Also very nice to see how many people, dogs, etc. in the plaza, on the streets, etc. Gives a sense of the size/congestion on any particular day...

Having read so much of your blog yesterday, I am very pleased that you are now meeting some good friends there and getting involved in the community thru LCS. I speak fairly fluent Spanish so am anxious to make friends of the mexicanos, as well. Are you aware of how well they accept there being so many gringos in Ajijic? I've read Karen Blue's "midlife mavericks", but that was written in 2000 or so and I understand home prices & # of gringos has gone up substantially; there must be SOME frustration of being overrun by gringos & the world economy! It's no wonder there's an expectation of 'gimme' - perhaps I should start expecting handouts too?(!!)

Yes, let's meet in Portland the next time you're up here. It would be good to share emails so I can tell you more about me and my plans, and I'm trying to give you my email address without posting it, but don't know if that's going to work. Looks like I need an IT staff for the rest of my life... I wouldn't know how to develop a website for blog-posting. (Didn't know what a blog was until last week. God am I that old & out-of-it?!!)

  2. Hi nopogayle, Here is my e mail address: Petwalker4@gmail.com I think some Mexicans resent us. How could they not? But their standard of living is also upgraded by all the wealth here. Please e mail me and especially while you are checking out these other places. I would like to hear what you think of them. I have been to Mazatlan. It is too crowded for me but I haven't been to Oaxaca. If I happen to be housesitting when you are here, you can stay the week in my place. Patricia

  3. You are very kind to offer a play to stay. I think that's my main concern: where to stay when I arrive in a town, especially if I have a dog in tow. You are also welcome here while I still have the house - but I imagine you like to stay with your son when in town. Definitely we'll plan on having you over, though. Maybe to soak in the hottub while it's snowing (if you're crazy enough to return to pdx during that season!).

Looking forward to seeing more Dia de los Muertos photos from Chapala ... Gayle.

  4. Hi Gayle, I forgot about your dog. I don't know how my landlord would feel about another dog here. But we will wait an see...... You are right about the snow. I don't like cold weather. I will post more photos of the Day of the Dead tomorrow. Thanks for writing. Also, now you can e mail me. Patricia
