Morning Thoughts

Happy to be Alive
I had an exciting day yesterday. My office in my casita flooded.  Water went all over my electrical system. I am lucky that my computer, music system, cell phone, hair dryer and I pad didn't all die. Well, also lucky that I didn't die too. Because I thought that I had unplugged everything and I was mopping up the three inches of water when I got a shock. I was barefooted. Then I saw that I had not unplugged one of the electronics.... So today I feel happy to still be alive. Funny, I might not have made it to the upcoming thyroid operation that I have been so worried about. Just goes to show, worrying is a waste of time.  You worry about one thing and get surprised by something completely different. Life is a mystery.

My landlord has been home from the hospital for a few days now. He had a stroke and is paralyzed on one side. But his state of mind is upbeat and already he is standing and walking with a walker. It has been like one big party here every since he returned. He is a popular man in the community and people are coming all day long. Children play in the yard. Lots of food is being brought in. The first day that he was back, fifteen people came to visit him.

His son wanted him to return to Canada and check into the hospital there. My landlord refused. He said he would probably die if he did that. He wants to stay here and I think that is the best decision he could have made. He has two physical therapists coming in to help him. He has lots of help and friends surrounding him. This is the best place for him to heal.  I am happy to see that he is progressing so quickly. Also happy that I am still alive to witness it and to enjoy the holiday season here. I hope everyone reading this has a wonderful holiday season too.

  4. I am with you landlord on this issue. It is far better to live out your last days enjoying life instead of merely being maintained up north as if you were a failing jeep.

    1. Hi Steve, Thanks for commenting again. I had to laugh at that phrase, a failing jeep. P

  5. So glad you're ok! At my house, on Sunday, the washer went crazy, and we had about 50 gallons of water in the basement! But nowhere near as dangerous as what you went through. That is very odd that you don't know how/why! Be careful. And my best wishes to your landlord for a speedy and complete recovery.
