    1. Hi P. Thank you for commenting. It was a lot of fun to visit that market. But things are more expensive there than at the regular market. I may visit it again but I won't be buying a lot. P

    1. Hi Teresa, Thank you for writing. I am guessing that what you think is expensive and what I think is expensive are two different things. It is all relative.

Yes, it takes us longer to heal when we are older. My ankle still gives me problems 17 months after the break. P

  5. Wow, that organic market sure does look great! I've never been there. Will have to stop there on way back from clase de Espanol one of these Tuesdays. The fotos are great & make a nice contrast to ur normally more "natural" subject matter. Enjoyed viewing. Carolina in Ajijic

  7. Oh my! The crusts on the quiche look delicious! So does the man in the photo of jars of honey (?) (the photo below the one of the basket of eggs).

    Yum.

  8. to dan,

    yes, we are in japan.

patricia i too am very frugal. believe me, cheese here is outrageous, for anyone although i guess the japanese are used to paying those prices! wwe are going to sasebo next week and it will be the first time in 8 months that we will have steak. i'm really not much of a red meat eater anyway, but the prices here are exorbitant. it's not something i miss, but lately i've been craving a steak so we will eat at the officer's club on the base. one of the bennies of having a husband who retired from the navy is that we get all the privileges that active duty members do.

  9. I have a question: how do you clean the fresh produce you buy? Do you wash it in that solution you can buy in a small bottle? Or do people use bleach, or just standard north of the border washing? Thanks.

    1. HI Pat, Thanks for writing. I soak my veggies in a solution. It is a liquid that they sell in the grocery stores. I think that is what most expats do here. Maybe fifteen minutes and it doesn't have to be washed off. P

  10. I'm assuming that the organic market is in Ajijic and where is the new movie theater? It was mentioned that it is next to it. Another question: does organic produce still need to be soaked in microdyne (sp)?

    1. Hi, Thanks for writing. The market is in the San Antonio area, right at the libramento cut off. You can't miss it because it is a fairly new shopping center. You will see those huge arches that are in the first photo. The market is towards the back, next to the movie theater. Some of the veggies there have already been soaked. I don't know the answer to your question. I do soak my veggies, organic or not. P
