Yesterday was beautiful. Sunny all day. Someone told me that the rainy season used to be like that everyday. No rain during the day and lots of sunshine. So maybe that old myth that it never rains during the day, really was true in the past. I went to the Hot Springs Spa in San Juan Cosala. I hadn't been for several weeks because of the overcast weather in the mornings. In order to be able to swim laps I have to get there when they open at nine in the morning. By eleven it is always too crowded in the pool to swim.
After swimming I went to a Kayak Club meeting in a nice restaurant by the water in Ajijic. Sixteen people showed up. All fit and perky and ready to get out on the beautiful lake in kayaks. But only a few people own kayaks. I have one, a blow up sit-on-top kayak that I dragged down here four years ago and have never used.
After I had a knee operation, fractured my wrist in two places and broke my ankle, I had too many fears to try to take it out. Guess I grew too old too quickly to kayak. Or maybe I will try it with a different kind of kayak, one that doesn't tip over as easily as a sit-on-top one does.
They are going out next Tuesday. I may walk down and take photos as they push off. One step closer for me to getting up enough courage to try it. My tax man is leading the group. Wonderful man. I can't say enough nice things about him. (If you ever need a good tax man or financial adviser down here, please contact me and I will give you his information.) He said, Wear something you don't mind getting wet because you WILL get wet.
I don't mind getting wet but I don't like the idea of tipping over. That scares me with all my physical damages. The lake is kind of shallow. During the years when it was very low, people used it for their cattle so there are still barbed wire fences out there. I wouldn't want to get caught in one of those fences..... Okay, so I am a chicken. I admit it. Maybe the sailing would be easier for me. There is also a sailing club and sometimes people can go out with them. I will check that out.
