Chapala Malecon Sunday Afternoon

This boy was selling candy. He showed me his pocket full of money. He went away dancing.

  1. I have followed your blog for several years now and something I see in common with other bloggers in Mexico is the tendency of the native people to turn away when their photo is taken. Some look down, many photos are of backsides of people, some even look caught off guard.
Has anyone ever protested their picture taken?

  2. Thanks for commenting. I try to be sensitive about that with people. Mostly they like it but not always. Many people are just too busy to care one way or another. Children usually love seeing their photos. But I did not notice the man grabbing his crotch in that one photo. I don't notice everything. p

  3. Lots of sunshine, people, restaurants, food and things to buy. Seems that's a lot of what most people do in Mexico from Lake Chapala. Would you say that is retirement mentality there, to socialize, eat, and go to the plaza or boardwalks. What else goes on around there besides the lovely markets, hooking up with friends and eating out? Someone on another blog said there isn't much to do in Lake Chapala but eat out and socialize with other folks in the area. Unless you take some tours are there other fun things to do? 4. Yes we need to hook up! When will you be here again? I'm taking a trip to Maine from 8/19-8/31. So if you are here before or after that we should definitely plan to have a visit.
