Sunday Morning Thoughts

It rained all night and I woke up at five thirty a.m. No reason to get up so early but I couldn't go back to sleep. I decided to pack my suitcase for my house sitting job tomorrow morning. This time I am just going to take a very small overnight bag, computer in a case, and my food. At least that is my plan. I always pack too heavy. I guess having familiar things around me makes me feel secure. I will be staying in Chapala for six days. Now that is a very short time. No reason for me to get anxious but I do.

Chico was watching me as I went about my gathering and packing. I think he knows the drill by now. I am sure he doesn't like it when I go away but the reunions are always fun. His owner is giving a talk at LCS this morning. I am going to sit in the front row and take photos. I won't take Chico because he would be too distracting.

I took a lot of pictures yesterday of the malecon here. I was surprised to see it so quiet. Weekends are usually very crowded with people from Guadalajara. I went to the spa last week and it was crowded. It is still summer vacation and the children were enjoying the swimming pools. I can't tell you how many times some little kid jumped on me or right in front of me. I think next time I will get there before ten a.m. I will be able to swim laps at that time of the day.

This is the rainy season so I should just accept that many days will be overcast and gloomy. I know the rain is good for the lake and the flowers. Yesterday I saw many flowers, especially at the Lake Chapala Society gardens. They are spectacular right now.

The birds are singing in my garden. They love the rainy season. I wish I could learn to love it too. But I am a sunshine person. When the sun disappears, I get depressed. I know. It is right behind the clouds.  Have a little faith Patricia. It will come back in a few hours. It always does. There is a rumor going around that it never rains during the day here. Don't believe it.

    1. Thank you so much. I always expect to read something mean when I open up on my blog but that has only happened three times in all these years of doing this. Mostly people are wonderful and that is the reason I keep on at this. P

  2. Hi Pat,

I know how you feel about gloomy days. I too love to see the sunshine, but after living in Oregon for nearly 40 years, I have come to reluctantly accept the gray days, but only during the Summer because I know the sun will shine tomorrow! Now, winter is a different story! Be thankful that you are living the life that most of us who read your blog are envious of...

    1. Hi Donna, Good to hear from you again. I hear that you guys in Portland have been having some very hot days. Sometimes that is hard to take too. My area of comfort seems to narrow the older I become. P
