It is great for me now that I have a huge desk and a window to look out of when I write. What more could a person want? Maybe a kitchen but I can do without that. I have a hot plate, a refrigerator, a convection oven, a slow cooker, a blender, a George Foreman Grill and many other kitchen things. Besides, the electricity is out half the time here anyway. I go out to eat. I can afford to do that since my rent is so low.
When I first came here four years ago, little casitas rented for around three hundred dollars a month. Now they go for five hundred and up. I can't see paying that kind of money for a place when I am not here half the time. So, I am making do with what I have here. Besides, Chico is my landlord's dog, not mine. If I moved, I would miss him terribly. I do anyway when I house sit. There is no place like home. I could be staying in a mansion but I am always glad to come back to my simple little casita and Chico. I feel very lucky to have found my place in the world. That isn't an easy task.
Live below your means. That is my theory for having a more secure and happy life. It is possible for me to do that in Mexico. In the States I would never be able to live below my means. I wouldn't even be able to live within my means there. I love living in Mexico for many reasons. But one of them is that I can afford it here.
!Me gusta la casita! Your apartment looks nice and cozy. Chico sure appreciates it!
