Morning Thoughts

This is the second rose to come from my rose bush in my little garden. It has been one week in the jar and still looks fresh, thanks to my online friend Eddie. He told me to put white sugar in the water. It keeps the roses fresh for about two weeks. Thank you Eddie in Canada.

I am still coughing a little but today is market day and I need lots of food. Think I will leave Chico at home this time and take him out in the afternoon. The Weds market is very crowded this time of the year.  The weather is still beautiful.

Olive likes to sit next to me while I type. She still has a cough. Here is a question that I hope someone out there can answer for me. Is it possible to get the same diseases as our animals, from them? Olive had the cough first and she insists on sleeping near my face at night.....

  2. Hi Pat, such a beautiful rose. I love it. And about Olive's coughing, dont worry. The only serious disease you can get from your cat is rabies. There is also another one that i forgot its name. It is kind of a parasite that i am pretty sure your cat does not have any. She looks very healthy to me. Take care. Bita

  4. Try moving the rose outside for awhile and see if the coughing stops. Could be the pollen from the rose.

  5. Hi Pat!
Kitties are very susceptible to respiratory infections (essentially coughs or colds). The bad news is that sometimes they get them chronically; the good news (for you, anyway) is that it's extremely unlikely what she has is transmittable to you. She could have bortadella ("kennel cough"). It's treatable with antibiotic, but I can't remember which one. Here's some more info: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/pet-health-information/article/animal-health/feline-upper-respiratory-infection/4102

  8. Did you move to the area/Mexico with your cat or did you get/find her there? I am thinking on retiring down there after a couple of years and I have a cat, so...
