Morning Thoughts Chaos
It is chaotic here now. My landlord fired his loving and reliable long time maid yesterday. She came up here crying and I felt so sad for her . She has been working for him for seven years, seven days a week. No paid vacation. No paid sick days. No paid days off. She knows that she could see an attorney but she said she felt too much loyalty to him. This is what loyalty got her. I hope she will reconsider. She needs work . Let me know if you need help. The other helper and her family are moving into my area as soon as I leave. I am just hanging out, hoping my knee will heal before I make this move. Life is interesting. And unfair. And sad.

I'm so sorry for the maid. I hope she finds a job where she is more appreciated and gets days off!
ReplyDeleteHope your knee is better soon.

Pat, You should do whatever it takes to get out of there with the pets while the getting out is good. Hire the maid and her hubby to move you ASAP before Landlord puts you out and reconsiders what arrangements you have.
ReplyDeleteTake control and go before it turns nasty.
Best of luck.
Thank you. P
DeleteThere is very clear law in Mexico about employees and vacation pay and termination pay. I hope she stands up for what she is owed. Spencer is a lawyer in Ajijic and would certainly get her what she is owed and deserves. His email is: chapalalegal@gmail.com
DeleteDo you know of him? He's bilingual. She should get what ever she is owed.
Yes I know him. I will pass this on to the maid. Thank you. P
ReplyDeleteHope soon both you and the maid will be secure. Any news on when your new apartment will be ready?
ReplyDeleteThank you Pat. For sure by the end of the month. P
DeletePat I think that what people are advising here you should take heed and do it! You dragged out the situation with you landlord not being fair to you because of how much you loved Chico, and you felt such a connection with the maid you should really try to help her see Spencer. I imagine he would take it on just based on principles...heck if need be start a go fund for her and she'll get the money by donations...I'd donate towards her getting what she has due and I'm sure others would join in to help her pay for the attorney fees and even some money to live on until she finds a job. I had a bad feeling about your landlord a long time ago, but didn't say anything because my judgements aren't always right. Look at the mess I got myself in when I drove down here with the idiots I entrusted making the journey with and they screwed me over big time!
ReplyDeleteHi Pam, thank you for your concern. The maid now has a good lawyer. As soon as I move I hope you and I can get together. I want to hear about your experiences. P
DeleteYes once you catch your breath, and get situated I would love to meetup. We have much to share!
DeleteFor sure Pam. P
