Mistake

I keep getting different reports about the murders. As of now, it looks like they did NOT capture the second man who was involved..... Sorry for the mistake...

  1. I doubt we will ever know the outcome. The Mexican judicial system is not very opaque -- especially during the investigation stage.

    1. Hi Steve, Good to hear from you again. It will be very disappointing if that man doesn't get caught. But you are probably right about not knowing the outcome. p

  2. Pat I read all about this crime and how the investigations are going at this website...very informative and helpful...but it doesn't give me any peace knowing that 98% of the criminals in Mexico get let go and are free once caught! http://www.lakechapalacrime.com/

  3. Well good for you and your commitment to it. I think in truth when it is our time to go it just happens. I had a friend here in the US that was murdered and they never arrested anyone for it. He was living in a half way house when it happened. So in reality murders happen everywhere and one just has to be careful in general no matter where you live. I just get nervous after reading about so many breakins in Ajijic over this year so far considering how small it is. If it were a huge city it wouldn't be so much but the list in the website shows breakins are higher in Ajijic than anywhere else in the Lakeside communities.

    1. How sad about your friend being murdered. Yes, there are a lot of break ins here because this is where a lot of the wealthy people live.

  4. It's unfortunate this is happening especially to the wealthy as they bring in the most money to spend while there making the biggest impact on the areas economy, so it will deter many of those types of people to make that their Winter home if they don't get a handle on it. So sorry for the poor family of the Canadian couple. I imagine this is going to have a big impact on their friends there and in Canada for any of them living in the Lakeside area, for I imagine they will not be staying there much longer if things don't drastically improve. I'm very affected by this so much so that I am doubting it as a safe place to live as an Expat, so I can only imagine how others are feeling that knew them :(
