A Trip out of town to Lago de Chapala

Yesterday my friends Jack and Virginia took me for a drive in the country to a small restaurant in the town of Yamhill. It was an hour out of Portland, through the wine country. What a treat. Being in the restaurant was like being back in Mexico. The name of it is Lago de Chapala Mexican Restaurant and they served the most delicious Mexican food I have ever eaten. The mole was sweet and chocolaty, homemade. Everything was incredible. The tables and chairs were from Tonala. The waiter was from Guanajuato.  Thank you so much Jack and Virginia! I had so much fun. Here are some photos.
Even the table tops had drawings on them.
Jose, the waiter.
They have a four page menu, this is one.
This was my meal!
This was the mole
Car outside full of Westies, patiently waiting for their master.
The address of Lago de Chapala is 240 S. Maple St, Yamhill, OR and their phone number is 503 662 4300. It is worth the hour drive.  They have two restaurants. Check out their website. www.lagodechapalarestaurants.com  Their other one is in Newberg. 1906 Portland rd, Newberg, phone 503 538 3823

  1. WoW! My aunt and I admired those chairs when we were in Tonala. Wonder how they got them back to Oregon and how much that must have cost? But how strange that you had to go to Oregon to get the best Mexican food you have ever had :-)

Looks like about half a dozen westies in that car huh?
