A delicious omelet
Marie, Karin and I, we all decided that this is one of our favorite places to eat. The food is delicious and very inexpensive. Nice atmosphere too. It is at the end of Colon, near the water.

  2. Hi - I have looked through the bars at that restaurant, but never been inside. Glad to hear it is good food. Did it used to be owned by someone else until last summer? You are looking great, BTW. Very healthy.

    1. Hi Pat, Thanks for the compliment. I am trying to eat healthy foods. When you were here it may not have been a restaurant. My friend lived there with her grandson. When she moved out, this young man moved in and made it into a restaurant. P

  3. I'm curious.... When you say the food is "very inexpensive", what does that mean? One book I read said that due to the many Americans and Canadians in Ajijic, some places are actually more expensive than places in the States or Canada. How much would breakfast, or lunch cost? (A simple one, that is-- nothing fancy).

    1. Hi Jim, The omelet was 60 pesos...... They have a delicious bean meal for 30 pesos.... I can get lunch at most restaurants for about 60 pesos. Hope this helps. p

  4. Thanks Pat, that's very informative. The omelette does look good. It also left me with a craving for chilaquiles. I will have to seek those out when I come to visit!

    1. Hi Jim, Thanks for commenting. I went to the spa today and ordered chilaquiles. I used to HATE them.... Thought I would try again since I hadn't tasted them for several years. I still HATE them. Had to throw them away. I just can't develop a taste for them. P

    2. Funny thing about them...(not that I am an expert, or anything), I think they can be made so many different ways, I can easily see them being either really good or really disgusting. I have even found online recipes of people making them with tortilla chips (even Doritos!). I confess to having made them with tortilla chips myself, just to see. They're not too authentic, of course-- but they actually weren't that bad. I guess it "just depends". Maybe it's just an acquired taste. But if you make 'em at home, maybe you'd like it.

    3. Thank you. I think I will try to make them at home with the kind of ingredients that I like. I appreciate that information. I never would have thought of making them myself. P

    4. They are basically meant to be a hangover food, using stale tortillas and whatever other leftovers you've got laying around that you think would be good. So I've seen them with red sauce, green sauce; with chicken, beef, pork, even scrambled eggs mixed in. The grossest ( and most common) way I've seen them is in a steam tray, all soggy, as part of a breakfast buffet. Naturally those tend to be disgusting! But if you only put into them what you like-- you'll probably like 'em!
