Morning Thoughts

I am slowly healing from the operation to take out my thyroid. I am putting vitamin E oil on the scar and coconut oil at night. I go out in the mornings for a walk with Chico. In the afternoons I just hang out at my casita, reading and cooking.

This is still the high season and the Wednesday market is very crowded these days. It was so crowded last Wednesday that I didn't even bother to take photos. Too many people around. Lots of traffic on the roads. If there are fewer people here this year, I can't tell. The only way I know is from restaurant owners, complaining about their businesses.

The weather here is cold at night and mornings, sometimes overcast most of the day. And sometimes we get beautiful warm sunny afternoons. Not what I would call winter. But the long time residents and Mexicans bundle up as if it were snowing out. I am looking forward to longer days. Since I don't have a car, I don't go out at night and so these long dark nights are boring for me. I read a lot of books and look at netflix movies.

I can hardly wait to get to the spa again but I have to wait awhile longer for my scar to heal over more. Waiting is not something I enjoy doing. Okay, I hate waiting. That is why I am always on time or early. When people make me wait, I get very anxious and angry. This is NOT a good trait for Mexico, the land of Manana.  I haven't been taking many photos because I haven't been doing much. Hopefully, next week will be different and I will be well enough to have an active life again.

    2. It is not always Manana here, we asked for a taxi cab to pick us up a few days ago at 6:15 am to take us up to the ETN station for a trip to Puerts Vallarta. He was early. then we asked him if he would like to pick us up on our return. When we arrived an hour late, because of slow traffic, there he was all smiles waiting for us. I know it is frustrating sometimes as we are not used to waiting, but sometimes a bit of a wait gives us time to look around and enjoy what we do have instead of always rushing someplace to be on time.

  2. I, too, enjoy your writing. I laughed when I read about many people "bundled up as if it were snowing." I noticed that when I was in Florida a couple of weeks ago. I had on capris and a short sleeve shirt, while "natives" were wearing jackets or coats.
Thanks for your blog. I always enjoy seeing what's going on in Mexico.

  3. Dear Pat,
I ran across your blog a little over a week ago and I am so glad that I did. I have been reading it every day since and even went back and started at the beginning. I love your pictures and would like to send you an email. I ran across your address several times and even wrote it down, but when I went to get it...of course I could not find it. Would you mind posting it again?
    Thank you,
    Kathy
