I am Home from the Hospital

I am home from the hospital. Feeling very drugged so this will be short. Just wanted to thank everyone for sending me love, prayers and good wishes. I did not have cancer. He had to take out all of one side of my thyroid and three fourths of the other side. I apparently had Thyroiditis. All I know is that the thyroid was attacking itself.....  He said I may have a problem in my lungs but it isn't from cancer coming from a burst goiter. I will have to see a lung specialist next.... But he doesn't think this is cancer either. I am so happy to be home again. The operation cost less than I had anticipated. I don't know how I would have made it through this ordeal without the love and support of everyone. Thank you so much.... Now to bed.

  5. hi pat,

i was just going to e-mail you telling you that i was continuing to pray for you, then it dawned on me that maybe you had posted. i was gone for 3 days so hadn't checked blogs or e-mails till this evening. i was so happy and relieved to hear that the surgery went well and that you don't have cancer. i will continue to pray that you will have a speedy recovery and that things will go well when you see the lung specialist. i assume that won't be for a while. do take good care of yourself and let all your friends love you and care for you, that's what friends are for.

  8. Didn't want to say anything but when my thyroid was removed over 35 years ago, I did not eat for 2 days since swallowing hurt so much. Guess you did not have this problem. Doctor said it was a good day of surgery for him as he thought both of his patients that day had cancer and neither of us did.

    1. Hi Gil, Thank you for writing and sharing that experience with me. Yes, my throat and neck have both been hurting. But nothing stops me from eating, unfortunately. I am getting better quickly. P
