Have you ever considered retiring in Mexico? Have you wondered about daily living in a foreign country where you don't speak the language? What about hotels, hospitals, doctors, restaurants, banks, real estate and cultural activities? This is a diary of my daily life in Lake Chapala and other areas of Mexico. I don't speak Spanish. I am a single retired woman. I hope this blog will give you an idea of what to expect if you decide to make the move.

Yesterday's Farmer's Market in Portland, OR.
This market is held on the Portland State University campus. Did I mention that it is COLD up here? I loved looking at all the interesting things, lots of root veggies, but I didn't buy anything. I couldn't get over the high prices.....
Beautiful photos. Looks cold! :-) I'm with you on the ridiculously high prices, though. It puts "good", "safe" food out of the price range of most people. Sad situation.
Hi Mike, Thanks for the welcome. Snow? I haven't seen snow in years. Yes, I am so lucky dto have a home in Mexico. If it weren't for my family, I would probably never come back here again. P
Really pretty pictures...but no sunshine in sight...and wet ground everywhere. Need a full closet of coats in Portland. I visit a friend in Bend yearly, it is much sunnier - but still cold way too early for me. Enjoy your time in the northwest, even with the weather.
And here I am longing for the bracing chill of November. I head up at the end of the month for a week or two. Just long enough to get my visa for China.
Hi Steve, Thank you for writing again. I was going to publish your last comment and it said it was no longer available. China!!! Great. Too bad I will miss you when you come up here. Thanks for keeping in touch. Patricia

ReplyDeleteWelcome to PDX. Yes, it's cold and may even snow before Thanksgiving. Enjoy it and be thankful you have a home in Mexico.
ReplyDeleteHi Cubanofila, Thank you for the compliment on the photos. Everything here seems expensive to me. Guess I am just spoiled by Mexico... P
