One of Lakeside's oldest Expats, Elsie Sherburn

Today I visited with Elsie Sherburn. She is over a hundred years old and came here a few years ago with her family. Not long ago she moved into a board and care home not far from my house. So today I visited with her and took her a cupcake. I took some photos of her while she was eating it. She seems to be very happy in the home and is still doing her knitting. (I just learned from her daughter that she turned 102 last September.)

  1. It is great to see someone at that age still enjoying their life. Looks like she found a good place to live. That's the hard part - finding a good place if you reach a point where you can't take care of yourself. I had a neighbor who was able to stay in her own apt with a little help from her neighbors until she died at 98. Hope we can all stay independent.

    1. Also help in your own home would not be very expensive here. P

  3. It is so great to see folks at that age still able to do the things they enjoy. And it is also wonderful that people like you take the time to visit. You are indeed to be commended.
