Morning Thoughts--Cat Napping

As you can see, the cat is right at home in among all my computer wires. She loves to sleep on my desk while I am writing on my computer. She seems to think that she lives here. Chico has his own thoughts, but keeps them to himself. He just glares at her and shakes if she is near him.  He stays in my other room. Good thing that I have TWO rooms. A cat room and a dog room.

It has been raining here for days. I have been stuck in these two rooms. I read everything I could find, even some old books that have been hiding in my bookshelf for years. One was about wild children. You know, children who were raised by wolves or chickens. Chickens? Yes. Apparently, they make good mothers. ( I love this quote. "Nothing separates us so much from the past as our inability to believe in wonders.")  From Savage Girls and Wild Boys by Michael Newton,  pg. 16, first sentence.

One was an old copy of Nexus by Henry Miller. One was a mystery set in Tibet. I even spent several hours just looking through my cookbooks. Not cooking. Just looking. Finally, yesterday, I had to get out. I walked up with my umbrella to the movie theater and saw Captain Phillips. I was surprised that I enjoyed it. But I probably would have enjoyed watching cartoons, I was so bored in my casita.  Captain Phillips got my blood circulating.

When I got back home, I had no  electricity. The entire Lower La Floresta had been out since I left for the movie. So I went back to Salvador's and had a meal, coconut shrimp. Delicious. Back home again with my trusty umbrella and we had electricity! That was a nice surprise because sometimes it will be out for days.....

I know a few people who are coming down for their winter vacation, arriving today. So sorry that they have to come in this weather. It probably isn't much nicer than where they came from in the States and Canada. We do have bad weather but not often. That is the saving grace for me. I know it is only temporary. I saw on the weather report that by Wednesday it will be nice, just in time for the Wednesday market......In the meantime, I need to learn how to catnap.

  1. Hi Pat,
So it's raining cats and dogs, huh? (Sorry, I couldn't resist!) It rained all day yesterday...which means 2 or 3 days of mopping for me, with our 3 dogs. Good thing it wasn't snow, though. And I am laughing out loud at the thought of humans being raised by chickens!!!
    Best.

    1. Hi Karen, Thanks for writing. I am assuming that the chickens didn't teach the wild child any Spanish.... P

  2. That cat looks really comfortable. I wonder where its "other" home is. We are taking our cat to our son's house in southern California this week so he can find a new home for her. So we will be free to travel more w/o the high kennel bills. Am still trying to negotiate a rental for Feb & Mar in Ajijic. Realtor is checking with the owner currently. Cross your fingers for us. It is a casita with a nice yard ----- and a pool!
