More Razor Wire added to the Fence

My friend Leslie and her dog Boomer and Chico and I have been walking every morning for several years. This will most likely be our last walk. Leslie managed to climb over the part of the fence that hadn't been razor wired yet but as you can see from the first photo, they are doing that now. Putting it up all across our fence.....  So no more morning walks with the dogs. No more walks to the lake. No more walking along the lake shore to the Lake Chapala Society or town... Every time I leave this area, I have to walk an extra six (long) blocks.. By the time I finally get to where I would have been before the fence, I am too tired to go on. It is hot and not fun. Especially when I am  bringing my groceries home from the Wednesday market. What was once my favorite day of the week has become a big chore.

There are seven entrances to lower La Floresta. We are the only entrance that is blocked Permanently!!!   What is the point except to punish us poor people who do not own cars??? I am so angry about this situation that I could spit but I am not letting these people drive me out of my home. I just hope that people with more power will make them take this down.....

  1. A pair of good long handles wire snippers would do the trick. :)

  2. First as a member of La Floresta neighborhood watch I'd like to say that this is not your fence and that from the looks of it you are trespassing on private property. A bit history recently we have had several break ins one resulting in a double murder the closer of this fence is a direct result from this. Also why is it that the first response is to destroy property? Recently this has been tried with the swing arms on both ends of Camino Real I can tell you that person had been caught and is being dealt with. Last why is it people think it is a direct hit on them personally? It isn't but if you choose to make it by over exaggerating the situation by threatening that boohoo I'll never walk again or gee I got to walk blocks out of my way. I can tell you this I walk this route all the time and yes I have had to retrace my steps big deal. This route is used by people that break in to houses and it needs to be closed. FYI I have brought this blog up with La Floresta Fracc. if you choose to destroy please remember you made it public.

    1. I have no intention of destroying the fence...I already said that. I am not exaggerating the situation.... This fence has made life much harder of people who live here or people who work here and do not have cars..... Have some compassion.... This is the ONLY entrance that has been shut down completely.... I see no common sense in this....p

    2. I am so sorry for this ignorant "neighborhood watch" person's reply. Seems they can't tell the difference in what you post on YOUR blog and someone else's reply. The bad people will still get into your neighborhood in their cars!! Weren't the ones who committed the murders in the neighborhood in a vehicle and doing work earlier at a neighbor's house? So bad guys in cars have no problem, just locals who walk? Do I understand this correctly? Connie in Wa.

    3. Hi Connie, Thanks for commenting. You have it summed up correctly from my point of view. It is the poor workers and people who can't afford cars who are suffering. p

    4. Why do people take it as a personal hit? Because it effects them on a personal level. It may not be a big deal for this Board member to traverse the extra blocks, but for people with physical limitations it is. I find it shocking that a person whose goal is to help the residents in their community would be so callous and contemptuous of other peoples concerns. Furthermore to suggest that a person with your integrity would maliciously damage property is unconscionable. I'm hoping they replied before thinking of their position. Maybe they will have the character and grace to apologize. You have every right to voice your concern and empathy for the residents adversely effect by this less than thoughtful decision. The Board is there for ALL residents, not just the ones that consider this no big deal. The "boohoo" comment should be enough to have them removed from office, but unfortunately lots of people have jobs they are ill suited or unqualified to hold. I'm truly sorry you're having to cope with this.

  4. Dear Neighborhood "Watcher",

Your letter is truly disturbing on so many levels. First, let's go through the inaccuracies of it (I'm being kind by using the word "inaccuracy". Regarding the lady you are referring to as trespassing on private property: Patricia is a tenant of that "private property" and she invited her friend on to it. Also, Hotel chapala Real is open to the public, and it is on that street.

    2) Patricia not only did not threaten to destroy it, an anonymous poster simply made a joke about it, and Patricia rejected even the idea of such a thing.

    3) That murder happened blocks from there, on a street where all of La Floresta is wide open for anyone to get in or out. Blocking off this one entrance had nothing to do with that & will not prevent any criminal from getting in or out of La Floresta. This picture just illustrates that it prevents two old ladies who have been walking their dogs together every morning for years from doing so. It's like two neighbors woke up looking through a fence and finding that one now lives in East Berlin and the other in West Berlin. And that's what that razor wire looks like. Honestly, it looks like a prison or war zone.

    4) On the comment that Patricia should not put down Mexicans. Errr.. say wha? Patricia's entire blog (and she's been writing in HER blog for years) is basically a written shrine to her love of Mexico and the Mexican people. The people (or person) who thought up this insanity is actually racist and classist. It's like a neon sign that says "Poor Mexicans Keep Out!"

    5) Lastly, "Neighborhood Watcher", your ugly and vicious tone (and outright threats), your callous "boo-hoo" comment to an older woman who suffers chronic foot pain from a terrible break, and other physical ailments, really is sickening. I bet you were just like this when you were in high school. A bully who sucked up to the bigger bullies. Your job is to help your neighbors. But no, you are gleefully spitting in the eye of your neighbor. Nazi Germany had a nice big share of Neighborhood "Watchers" like you, turning people in for expressing their opinion. I loved the part about you running off to your masters to show them this blog. Did you get to lick the dictator's boot? Honestly, you should be deeply ashamed of yourself.

You will not stop people from freely expressing their opinion, you little, little person.

  5. Sorry that this issue continues for you Pat. I strongly advise that you stop climbing over that fence before you get hurt from a fall or cut. That Association would not cover liability.
While I support you cause I also can see that you could be evicted fromwhat they could call destruction of property and or by eviction to reduce chance for liability.
Best advice for you as a renter is to have your landlord speak for you.
Might be that it's time to move outside the fence.
I'm a really big fan of this blog and my opinion is souly mine and intended strickly out of concern.
Find another place and don't fight with these people that have the ownership rights.

  6. Patricia, I am so sorry you are having to go through such a tough time right now. I would like to see you stay here and find another place to live. I do understand your concern about Chico though. There has to be an answer.

  7. Wow this is a very heavy post! Lots of opinions flying around here and I have to agree with all the people standing up for you Pat. Well said to all who are defending you. The bottom line though, is you must come to terms with living behind a barb wired neighborhood or find a new happier healthier place to live where there are truly compassionate people instead of dealing with heartless board members who make senseless choices affecting your well being. Whatever you decide to do you must figure out how to live with your choice, because at least you still have a choice to make and no razor wired fence can take that from you. I couldn't deal with climbing over that fence, my knees are to arthritic, so I would have to move. I can't imagine you dealing with this with a bad ankle!!!! Lord bless you! Money can make people very evil!
