Morning Thoughts--Change

Another Friday and time for the Veracruz Fish special at the American Legion in Chapala. I like taking the bus into Chapala and walking around the plaza.  It feels like a much more active town than Ajijic. Chapala is a busy Mexican town. Ajijic is more of a retirement town, filled with Americans and Canadians.

Not long now until they come flooding back into town. Many of the short term rentals are already booked. I go to Portland again on the 31st. I will miss all the Day of the Dead celebrations. I forgot about that when I booked my flight.

My life here is settled into simple daily routines. Sometimes I think about taking a trip to another part of Mexico but then I quickly forget about it. Life is just too easy for me here. Too nice to leave.  I guess my trip to Portland will be enough for this year.

The only part about living in Mexico that I dislike is being so far from my family. I can understand why many of the expats leave here for that very reason. That and problems with their health. I think those are the two major reasons people move back to the States.

This is an area of change. People are constantly coming or going, or moving to other houses. Restaurants are always opening or closing down or changing locations. I heard yesterday that Yves' is moving next week to the carretera. A long term rental is one year. A long term resident is someone who has lived here for a couple of years.

If you can't handle change, don't move here.

    1. Hi Pat, Sorry I don't have that answer. Apparently there are a lot of problems with that building. Maybe they will have to do some work on it first. Water problems, etc. P

  2. Oh no! I loved watching all the goings-on around the lake while dining at Yves. By the way, your photo of him looked pretty good. I know he had skin cancer and was getting treatments.

    1. Hi Donna, Thanks for commenting again. Yes, he looks good and I think it is because he is excited about his new restaurant. He had too many problems at that place. P

  3. I definitely handle change very well! I grew up moving every two years and I have dealt with so many changes since coming to Oregon it's not even funny! So I think it will be quite relaxing for me by comparison! LOL!

    1. That is a wonderful quality to have and not many people do, especially as we get older. P

  4. I believe in mind over matter for most things so my approach is to make the best of whatever the situation is, and for some reason I'm drawn to Lake Chapala out of the blue, must be some reason for it! LOL! Wish I could make the move right now, but can't do it until I can at least start getting enough social security benefits to give me the means to retire :)
