The kitchen island problem has finally been resolved. On Friday, my favorite Veracruz Fish special day at the Legion, I went to the consignment store and told them that I would go ahead and take it. They had a buyer but she had only put down a deposit and wasn't going to pay the rest for three more weeks. By then I would be in the States and I wanted this resolved one way or another before leaving.
My friend, Alex, took me in his truck and said he would help bring it back to my place. In a way I was looking forward to having yet another piece of furniture in my two room casita. Like I said, I am on my way to becoming a furniture hoarder.
We stopped by the place before going to lunch and I told them that I would return in an hour for the kitchen island. When I got back there, the woman was standing on the sidewalk. She said she wanted it as a gift for her brother and she quickly handed the money over to the salesman and he handed it to me.
All was resolved. (He must have called her and said that if she wanted it, she had to bring the money immediately.) Except that I was a little disappointed not to be taking it home. I know, crazy stuff. I could just see myself tripping over it all day long and cursing myself for buying it. So it all worked out in the end for everyone. If I ever mention thinking of buying any more furniture, please remind me to JUST SAY NO......
