Morning Thoughts----Passing the Buck

It is a rainy morning. Surprising since we haven't had much rain lately. I know we need it, so I am not going to complain. The lake is very low still. You can see it in the photos I recently put on of Chapala. I think it is about the lowest it has been since I came here six years ago. (Or maybe that was seven years ago. I have stopped counting. )

This is the last day of my house and dog sitting job in Chapala. This evening I go back to my little casita and Chico. I miss my day to day life in Ajijic and I have only been away six days. There is nothing like being at my own home.  No matter that it is just two small rooms with no kitchen.

I bought a kitchen island while in Chapala. Now that was stupid!  Did I think that having a kitchen island would turn that side of my room into a kitchen? I am becoming a furniture hoarder. Maybe they will let me get out of it. I will try this morning. It hasn't been delivered yet. I can see myself tripping over it all the time. What was I thinking? Having lots of furniture doesn't make a casita larger. It makes a casita SMALLER. I need to remember this the next time I am tempted to buy more furniture.

I go back to the States on October 31st and I will be there until Dec. 4th. It is winter up there now.  Very cold and rainy.  Again, what was I thinking? I make a lot of stupid decisions.  I like to joke about married people. At least they have someone else to blame if a stupid decision is made, even if the partner wasn't the one who made it. But being single, I have no one to blame but myself. The buck stops here. No, it is down the street with the man who sold me the kitchen island. I am going now to try to get it back.

  1. Hi Pat:
I do things like that when I am bored. I think sometimes something new will change the boredom-wrong!
I also tend to do that on dull rainy days. lol

  2. I had to smile at your post today Patricia. This sort of thing ("What was I thinking!")happens to me often - especially with travel. The good news is that often things work out well enough, and it turns out to be a worthwhile investment of time and money, with some brilliant moments and good new memories. Still, I sort of long for a situation where I am content where I live, and there isn't as much urge or incentive to get away and travel. That regret over having planned it is about the worst for me...

  3. Hey, it's NOT winter here (yet)!!! That happens when the temps fall below 45 every day and this AM (8:30 to be exact) it's 53 - should be around 60 today!! And, we really needed these Autumn rains since the Summer was so dry! It's all relative. Lake Chapala needs the rain too.
