Have you ever considered retiring in Mexico? Have you wondered about daily living in a foreign country where you don't speak the language? What about hotels, hospitals, doctors, restaurants, banks, real estate and cultural activities? This is a diary of my daily life in Lake Chapala and other areas of Mexico. I don't speak Spanish. I am a single retired woman. I hope this blog will give you an idea of what to expect if you decide to make the move.

The Fruit Truck
Yesterday afternoon the fruit truck showed up in my neighborhood. They had huge watermelons and mangoes and some other things but I am waiting to do my shopping today at the regular market.
Hi Teresa, So how much do they cost? I am guessing a lot. When I was in Japan in 1991 Cantaloupes were 25 dollars each. Mangoes here are now about forty cents each. I bought three of them. I love them too. Thanks for writing. P
what kind of preparation do all these fruits, berries, etc. require to ensure they're safe to eat, devoid of parasites? must everything be soaked in that (???) solution for 20-30 minutes?
Yes, they need to be soaked. They sell in the market a solution that you put into the water and soak them in for about fifteen minutes. Sill, sometimes it is possible to get sick. Depends on your own stomach. Thanks for writing. P
i looooove mangos! we can find them here but t hey are so expensive that we rarely buy them, only if they are on sale.
