This Week's Yard Sale Haul

A surprise find. A book from my favorite writer that I haven't read.
This is the cost: Shoes were one dollar a pair. Watches were a dollar each. Hat was fifty cents, still with it's thirteen dollar price tag on it. Purse was three dollars. Gym bag was one dollar. Books were fifty cents and one dollar.  Grand total: TEN DOLLARS....   I would NEVER find bargains like this in Mexico.

The watches still had their plastic cover on the front and the bar code on the back. Looks like they have never been worn. The two pairs of shoes were sold by a woman who got a job with a competing shoe company and they told her that she couldn't wear any other shoe brands. The hat had never been worn.......  Sometimes people would just ask me, What do you want to pay for it?
I would always say a dollar. That worked.....

  1. I think the difference is, in many neighborhoods in the States (I'm sure this one), when people have yard sales, it's because they have lots of perfectly good things they don't need anymore, but they don't want them to go to waste and throw them away. They don't need the money.

    1. Hi JimS, Thanks for commenting. Very true. It is an entirely different story in Mexico. Things are expensive and hard to come by. People don't let go of them cheaply. P

  2. It's funny to hear someone say "I could NEVER have gotten that deal in Mexico!" Usually it's the other way around! Neat stuff you got!

    1. Hi Lorrie, Thanks for commenting. You are right, usually Mexico is less expensive than the States. IF you don't have to live there and buy things and clothing..... p
