Out Alone in the World Again
Today is the first time since my accident that I have walked out alone into the world. What a great experience. I used one crutch. I managed to get to the edge of the market. I was afraid to go up into it because there were many people there. Maybe because it is almost Christmas. But I bought some fruits and vegetables at the edge of the market and also four DVDs. I took these photos. I felt such a sense of excitement to be around people again. And the music was playing. Wow, life is very interesting....
Of course I got carried away and had to struggle home with a huge bag of groceries. But it was wonderful just to sit there in the sunshine and watch people again.

How great for you, Patricia! It must be warm, because some of the people in your pictures have on short sleeves and shorts. It has been freezing here for quite a while...

YAHOO!!!!! I'm so glad for you! (Just be careful, & not overdue ... hear?!!)
ReplyDeleteHI Karen, Thanks for writing. Yes, it was a beautiful warm day and I felt so thankful to be living in it again. Wish I could send some sun up your way. Patricia
ReplyDeleteHi Gayle, Thanks. I feel like I have risen from the dead. That was a long two and a half months. Thanks for your help through the hardest part. Your friend, P
ReplyDeleteYou are free!!!!these are the first steps....we are still freezing in Northern Ontario....Good for you Patricia!!!!Once again you are moving forward...:o)Marilyn
ReplyDeleteHi Marilyn, Thank you for writing. This evening my ankle is hurting but it is to be expected from the busy day. I am so happy I am not up there in the storms. Patricia
ReplyDeleteYour other commenters are correct. Getting out on one crutch is an important step. And you will soon be rid of the second crutch. I think I got rid of it within a week. It simplify was in the way. You will be amazed how free you will feel then.
ReplyDeleteThank you Steve for your comment and your emotional support. Maybe I too will be among the walking again. Patricia
ReplyDeleteAnd the really COOL thing is, now, I know EXACTLY where these photos are taken from having walked down that street countless times during October to get to/from your place! By the way, I felt 'grateful' to have been able to walk from my office building to the nearest Safeway today - only 5 blocks - but it was (finally) sunny out & a 'balmy' 35 degrees! In other words...it's all relative. You're doing great; keep up the workouts!
ReplyDeleteHI Gayle, Good to hear from you and to hear that you are still walking, even though it is awfully cold there. I think I overdid it yesterday. Today my ankle is sore and swollen. I can't seem to get the right balance of exercise and rest. Thanks for writing. Your friend, Patricia
ReplyDeleteGood to see you are finally able to plant both feet on the ground and get out of your house. I was just reading Lake Chapala Society Classifieds and saw a place to share. It made me think of you. I haven't read your blog in awhile so I thought you were still home bound. I will still mention what I saw. There was a place for rent to share. I though at least you would not be alone if you shared a place with someone.
