Morning Thoughts-Computers

Did I mention that the i pad has a hundred pages of directions? And not one mention of how to put photos on a blog or any site from the photo program? Did I also mention that i photo no longer works on my macbook pro? Someone sent me an article saying that that they no longer will allow a person to use the i photo program from the macs.  So frustrating.

I went to the two hour class yesterday and talked with the teacher about my photo problem. He had no answers. So I still cannot post any photos on my blog. Seems that I bought this expensive new i pad for nothing and I spent hundreds of dollars and six months trying to get my macbook pro working and it is useless too for putting photos on the blog.

I am so frustrated. I wish I had a three year old child to borrow. He or she could probably figure out the solution in a few minutes.

  1. I wish I could help you more, but I'm a PC guy who only has an old iPhone. Here is what I've found:

September 17, Apple releases iOS8. Some point after that date your iPad will show that an update is available (perhaps your MacBook Pro too, depending on age/if that model will support iOS8). With iOS8 is a new Photos app. iPhoto is being retired. Here is what is says on the Apple site:

"The all-new Photos app makes it simpler than ever to find and rediscover your favorite photos with new search features and smart albums that organize your photos for you. And you can make every shot look even better immediately after you’ve taken it with powerful new editing tools, no matter your skill level. And iCloud Photo Library stores every photo and video you take, making them accessible from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac and on iCloud.com."

  3. Hi Patricia.
Oh sometimes I want to throw the computer at the wall!

I find the Apple products are the most frustrating of all. When I bought my ipad a friend had to give me a lesson on how to use it.

Don't be so hard on yourself; we did not grow up with computers.

Hope you friend can help you tomorrow.

    1. Thank you Cathy. That wall is very inviting at the moment. Either I will throw the i pad or bang my head against it. p

  4. How nice to see your recent postings. I usually check a couple times a week. And yes, technology is frustrating for many of us. In fact, my comment here has been entered two times. A hope this one comes through to you!

  5. Oh I so totally understand! I am like you when it comes to computers and it's a "can't live with them", "can't live without them" thing - when they work well and everything's fine they're great and when they don't or I need to do something and haven't a clue as to how to do it I get so frustrated - it makes me crazy. Just upsetting as all get out. I laughed but you're right - a three year old knows more, it's true. But remember kids are born into this these days and we weren't - we have a much broader learning curve and it isn't second nature or a life style to us. It's all completely new - and baffling! I was thinking of getting a Mac when I need a new computer (within the next year) but after reading your experiences now I'm not so sure....

    1. Hi Teri, Thanks for the suggestion. There is one in Guadalajara but that is difficult for me. Also, they are the ones who took six months and many hundreds of dollars to fix my old computer. p

  7. Welcome home! My husband suggests downloading a free app called Blogsy, it comes with a free tutorial. He had to switch as my macbook pro died as well. The screen is gone. And we threw out the special cable that would connect it to our tv and that cable is no longer available. Oh I hear you.
Hopefully this will work for you.

  8. Pat,
If you are taking your photos with either an iPhone or an iPad, they will automatically upload to iCloud when you get on WiFi. If you're taking your photos with a digital camera, you need a special cable to connect your camera directly to your iPad. Or you can use a connector like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/301559193230?ul_noapp=true&ul_ref=http%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Frover%252F1%252F711-117182-37290-0%252F2%253Fmtid%253D1588%2526kwid%253D1%2526crlp%253D69982082769_324272%2526itemid%253D301559193230%2526targetid%253D124340403849%2526rpc%253D0.21%2526rpc_upld_id%253D54273%2526rlsatarget%253Dkwd-124340403849%2526device%253Dt%2526mpre%253Dhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.ebay.com%25252Fulk%25252Fitm%25252Flike%25252F301559193230%25253Flpid%25253D82%252526chn%25253Dps%2526adtype%253Dpla%2526loc%253D9033308%2526poi%253D%2526campaignid%253D313895649%2526adgroupid%253D20919789969%2526gclid%253DCP_q_Ijvz8cCFZJgfgod7roONQ%2526srcrot%253D711-117182-37290-0%2526rvr_id%253D891579408073&chn=ps&lpid=82
Or you can connect the camera to another Internet-connected computer and move them to iCloud. Then your iPad will see them on iCloud. You need to do one of those things for your iPad to see your photos and be able to upload them to a web page. Then, it's actually pretty easy.

  9. Hi JimS, Thank you. I have done all this. Still doesn't work. I cut and pasted a photo onto my blog but then it won't stay on. It disappears when I try to publish it. I am worn out for now. Will try in a few days. p
