Rita Golden Gelman at the Ajijic Wednesday Market

On Sunday I went to Open Circle at the Lake Chapala Society. Rita Golden Gelman, the writer, was the guest lecturer. She wrote Tales of a Female Nomad --Living at large in the World, and several other books. I had read the Tales book several years ago and really enjoyed it. It was the inspiration for me to make my own journey to Mexico. Thank you Rita! Her lecture was as inspiring as her book was to me. Today at the market I saw her shopping with a friend so I asked for her photo. She agreed. So here it is for all you women who admire her as much as I do.

  1. Pat thank you so much for posting this message! I perused her site and read many reviews and excerpts from her books, quite fascinating! It has inspired me to buy her books for gifts to some very dear souls in my life, my daughter for one! She travels the world although she's no nomad, she will love her books and will be able to relate to them fully I suspect. Plus she loves to cook! I am very interested in getting both of Rita's books for her. Such a little special way to celebrate her turning 40 hopefully. Pam in OR

  2. Oh I'm not going to be here than, I'll be going to the East Coast. I plan on going to Maine and Massachusetts where I lived for 30 years. and Maine is where I summered as a child. Going to my Grandma's homestead for a visit with my Aunt and cousin living there now. I'll be there from end of August thru Labor day. Otherwise I'd love to see you if you are here before the 21st. I'll be gone 21st -9/2.

I'm so pleased your friend in Oregon wants to purchase Female Nomad & Friends. I have 3 essays in it. Very proud!
