If you look closely, you can see the woman pulling a cart. She collects things in the morning. I don't know what things , maybe rags or washing, but her cart looks extremely heavy. Looks like she has a hard job.
I was in Ajijic for three weeks this winter nd fell in love with the place. Can't wait to get back next winter. I love your blog and your pictures. Single women of a certain age can have fun lives!!
I am glad you posted the photo of the woman with her cart. I have seen her on my visits to Ajijic. She has such kind eyes and a sweet smile. I don't know how she can do that uphill climb everyday! It makes me feel sad. Linda D.
BTW...I want you to know that you have been an inspiration to me. I have followed your blog for a while now and decided it would be fun to do my own blog. I really don't know what it will turn into so I call it This and That. I linked your blog to mine. Anyway, thank you for all the things you do. Linda D.
The woman with the cart is a local Indian weaver who makes blankets, and tote bags and wall hangings. Some of it is touristy and some is beautiful. All of it is handmade, sometimes on a hand-loom. I have seen pictures of Mexican temple carvings from at least 1000 years ago where women are engaged in virtually identical weaving using the same kind of hand loom. She brings out huge bundles of her work every day in the late morning and brings them a couple of blocks down the hill on her hand cart. She then laboriously hangs all the goods from ropes she strings up in the trees by the lake. She must have customers, although I have never seen her make a sale. She reminds me of the ants which continue to attempt to crawl up a drainpipe no matter how many times they are washed down. And she is always cheerful and friendly. Jim Cook
Hi Jim, Thank you for that information. I think I have a photo of her down by the water. She has a hard life. Many of the Mexicans here work extremely hard. I have great respect for them. Also, anyone reading this comment, check out Jim and Carole's Mexico Adventure site. It is in my list of blogs. He has a lot of information about Mexico. It is a great site. Worth following.
