My friend Emily at the Hot Rod Restaurant |
It was so crowded that they had set a small table up right in front of the door for me and Emily. It was very noisy and people would have been streaming in and out all around our table. Cold air coming in too. It has been cold here.
So I just had to leave. I don't like noise and crowds when I am eating, no matter how good the food. I insisted with Emily that we go upstairs to one of the other restaurants. Emily wanted to go to the Hot Rod. I had been hoping we could have had time to eat and then go to the show. But they didn't get our food out fast enough.
I was so overwhelmed by then of the noise and problem at Salvador's that I asked Emily if she wanted to put her meal in a box and just eat it in the theater. She said no, she has seven dogs at home and cannot stay away that long. So I left her with her meal and I took mine into the theater and ate it while watching the movie.
It was a very disappointing day. Thanksgiving, for me, is a time to be with family. I was with my family last Thanksgiving in Portland. I miss them. But they will be down here Christmas Day. I am looking forward to celebrating the holidays then. This Thanksgiving is one for me to forget! If Emily hadn't been there, it really would have been bad.
Sorry your Thanksgiving didn't work out as you had hoped. It is cold here, a little snow on Wednesday, but supposed to warm up dramatically soon. There is a quote going around on facebook that says, "It's not often that I experience all 4 seasons in two days, but when I do, it's in Virginia."

Hi Karen, Thank you for writing again. It is always a pleasure to hear from you. Interesting weather you have there. P
DeleteSorry you did not get the buffet, but glad your kids are coming for Christmas. That will be really nice. We are in Ashland, Oregon this week with friends we have known since college days. Oregon is such a pretty state. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHi Pat, Good to hear from you. Sounds like you are having fun. I like Ashland. It is a beautiful town. p
DeletePat,
ReplyDeleteSorry your Thanksgiving was a "miss"...mine was just OK this year, too-- the sort that makes me feel like something was missing. The day after Thanksgiving, several stores around me were unloading leftover fresh turkeys for absurdly cheap. So, I did what I always do when it's "not quite right"-- I bought a big old honkin' turkey and did it all over again, just the way I like it. It was great. Why not try that when your family comes down around Christmas? With all of you there, it'll be worth cooking where it might not have been worth all the work just cooking for yourself. Trust me, you won't even care the date is "wrong". I'll bet you'll enjoy your time-shifted Thanksgiving as much or more than if it actually happened on the "correct" date-- because it'll all be 'just right'. Try it, it always makes me happy. I'll bet it'll work for you too.

Hi JimS. This comment made me laugh! I do not even have a kitchen. I have a small convection oven out on my deck. And my family and I are staying in Guadalajara the entire time they will be here. They are bored with the lake area. Sounds like you had a nice meal. p

ReplyDeleteThank you. p
DeleteIf I was living there I'd of cooked my own thanksgiving meal and you would have been invited to join me. I hate eating out on Thanksgiving and Christmas! They are the only holidays I'm a stickler about cooking a nice home cooked meal to be shared with friends and family if lucky enough to have my family with me. If not than I enjoy it with friends. This is one reason I would have to live in a place with a fully appliance kitchen! I love to cook! Yes Oregon is gorgeous this time of year specially when it does snow around Xmas time. Pam in OR where it's been very cold lately!
ReplyDeleteHI Pam, Thank you for the comment. Maybe one day we will have Thanksgiving or Christmas together. Your friend, p
