Day of the Dead and the Altars in Chapala

  1. Hey Amiga ~ Just referred someone to your great blog. I haven't been on here for a coon's age! My bad. I see you still have a beautiful blog and fantastic photos. You are so into keeping up with all the cultural events, holidays, fiestas, and the daily unique & authentic goings-on around our beloved Lakeside area! I, on the other hand, am starting to be embarrassed over how I avoid all this stuff! What is wrong with me? Someone said recently to me that perhaps the reason is that it is all so accessible, available, and abundant here that I'm like the person who just takes it for granted when it is always right in my front yard and backyard! Anyway, I would love to hook up with you sometime soon to partake & experience, together, something artistic, traditional, and/or cultural around here! Great blog, my dear Patricia. Miss you here in my own little world only half a mile from you! Love, Carolina :-)

  3. Hi Pat, I've been noticing how the price of apartments seems to be skyrocketing from when I first started researching Ajijic. I think this is because of the ex-pats. Many seem to be buying places and renting them for exorbitant rents as they do here in the states. Have you visited any other areas around Lake Chapala or even outside Lakeside that you think have the same charm but might be inundated with ex-pats and a little more renter friendly? I've also noticed that a lot of the rentals don't want to take pets now--always, in my opinion, the work of ex-pats. What do you think? Feel free to respond to me at lorryan2005@aol.com. I'd love your honest opinion.
