Tripping around with Tanga

My friend Tanga stopped in to pull me out of my Holiday funk. We couldn't think of what to do so we just started driving around town. We stopped at the Real de Chapala. She had never been there. She was looking for a warm fire. I thought they might have one in their dining room. No fires burning there. I took some photos of her out by the pool. Of course, no one was using it. This was a major part of my funk. Terrible weather. It even rained later on in the afternoon.

After the hotel, we decided to stop by the butcher shop and pick up another steak. She had one at her house. Our idea was to cook them  up before going to the church in the evening to see the live creches. So we bought a steak. Her two dogs and Chico were in the car with us. Then she wanted to drive up to see the mansions at the top of the hill. At this point we had given up on finding a fire.

We got to the top of the hill and came to a dead end where we found a huge fire. She stopped. We got out of the car and I had the steak in my hand, to keep it from the dogs in the car. We met Jose. He was the caretaker for the house on the hill and the fire. Being the creative thinkers that we all are, we decided to cook the steak on the open fire. He had tortillas which he added to the meal. It ended up being a great time. Jose made us a table inside the house under construction after the rain started. We ate the steak wrapped in the tortillas. No silverware. This is one holiday I will always treasure.

His wife and four children were planning on going up to spend the night with him. They were all going to sleep outside around the fire. His children ranged in age from five months to ten years. Since they wouldn't arrive until ten at night, Tanga and I went on our way. We had other plans. We wished Jose well. That construction site was the warmest place we had found and we appreciated Jose's hospitality. Next post will be photos of the beautiful creches at the church.
