My friend just sent me the name of a fairly inexpensive hotel in Ajijic. I have never been there but she said her friends are staying there by the month. The monthly rates are much less expensive than the nightly rates. If you are interested, check out their web site: La Casa De Me Abuela. The house of my Grandmother. Love the name.
Some great finds! You are doing all the work for me, I will have some great places to see when I go down! Hope everything works out with your place and Chico.

Hi Tammy, Yes, good places. Hope one of them is good for you. P
DeleteI enjoy your writing. Am planning month's stay in Ajijic, with a thought to retiring there. Will be there approx August 13 to Sept 12. I am an active senior and live in N. Calif, near Sacramento. My hometown is Monterey.

My initial question is this: What is the best way to find a clean & safe 1 BR or studio to rent in late August for maximum of $450, to include utilities & Wifi ? Even a large (private) room would work, with its own entrance. I'm cking craigslist for the Chapala area and also lots of real estate sites. Have done tons of research over the last year.
I too would be comfortable spending about $800 a month to live there. Have a modest social security. Thank you for any help you can provide. My website is http://www.mccoyreo.com --- I am the woman in red jacket. email is: egiamona@re4u.net Be well, Elaine
Hi Elaine, I am not in Mexico right now so I can't help you. But I did put some nice casitas on this site recently. Check them out or contact Accesslakechapala.com P
Deletethank you. have done much research since this post. Will plan to stay a few days to start at Calandrias hotel, rate is $360 for a month... and if it's too noisy i'll move after a few days. An American who has lived there for 3 years emailed me about it. I am also in touch with Pres. of Lake Chapala Society online, who is helpful. Plan to meetup with him. I also may meetup with an agent at accesslakechapala, who I am in touch with. They have the best videos of low-end rentals. Am told bulletin boards around town are best way to find longterm rentals... direct from owners. Keep up the great blog and pics! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for that information. Sounds good. Maybe I will see you there in a few weeks. P
