Morning Thoughts

Bird of Paradise in my Yard
A wind has come into town and visited us for a couple of days. Surprising.  Our days are usually calm. One little wind was enough to give people a subject of conversation. I guess we are very spoiled when it comes to the local weather.  Sunny and calm is forecast for today. Back to normal.

It is Sunday morning and the sun hasn't risen yet. Chico is still in bed. Poor guy. His short haircut is too short and he has hot spots all over his body. Sometimes he just shakes his entire body, as if he is trying to shake his skin off. I try to put salve on those spots but he tries to bite me. I guess I am going to have to let time be his healer.

I thought I had put the spam guard on my blog the other day but this morning I got spam on the post that was apologizing about having to put it on. Maybe I fixed it this time. I am tired of seeing all those ads. I get probably fifty spams to one real comment.

Life is good here for me at the moment. Except that I heard about a couple of murders here. That is disturbing. Today I will pick up the Guadalajara Reporter to get more information. I think it was a home invasion gone wrong. Many of these home invasions happen during the day. Why should they bother doing it in the dark? Especially when they rarely get caught. This is the downside of living here. The bigger the fence, the greater the challenge. I think it is safer to live in a small house in a Mexican neighborhood where you know your neighbors and they like you. That is the best security of all.

Today I am going out, again, for lunch with friends. I have eaten out more this week than at home and my refrigerator is bursting at the seams with food. I have a good life. All my basic needs are easily met and I have many friends. Online friends and friends in person.  For now, my health is good. I couldn't ask for more.  This being Sunday morning, I will say a prayer of thanks for this life of mine. I pray for good lives for all of you too.  We are only here for a short time. Let's enjoy it.

  1. Pat,
There is an online recounting of the crime here: http://www.lapoliticaeslapolitica.com/2013/02/one-man-stabbed-to-death-in-chapala.html

It does sound like a home invasion robbery.

  2. Hi Patricia! Hope you enjoyed a wonderful Sunday. I love the picture of the Bird of Paradise. I saw one in "real life" at a Botanical Garden last week. But it was past peak and not as beautiful as your picture.
Sorry to read about the crime...be careful!

    1. HI Karen, Thank you for writing again. It is always good to hear from you. I try to be careful here. I don't even go out at night but many of these crimes take place during the day. Fortunately, I don't live in a mansion. P

  3. Hi - I read about the crime in Riberas on line. Very disappointing. But to put it in perspective, we were watching the bay area news last night and there were five instances of the police in our area shooting people/bad guys in two days. There are many cities where you have to watch what neighborhoods you go out in after dark.

    1. Hi Pat, Good to hear from you. You are so right. Every time I think of moving because of the crime here, I realize that it is everywhere. So I stay. P

  4. Oh,Pat, I'm sad to hear about the crime (especially since I guaranteed the girl traveling with me that it's safe! Yikes!) I'll just keep this to myself. When is the last time something like this happened? Glad to hear you're feeling good. Everytime I read your posts a feeling of peace and calm comes over me! (Except maybe for this post about the crime!!)

    1. Hi Lorrie, You can't ever make a guarantee like that. Crime is everywhere. Even here..... Thanks for writing. P
