A chunk of fresh string cheese, two potatoes, three tomatoes, one Fresh bolillo (bread), six fresh eggs, a quart of milk, sour cream, five yoghurts, a banana and a box of cereal. The cost was 135 pesos which is six dollars and eighty cents today. Is this close to the cost of groceries north of the border? It has been almost four years since I have been out of Mexico so I am out of touch with prices up there. I am just curious, wondering if I could afford to buy groceries up there. Not that I am considering moving. The Pit Bull problem has finally been solved and I am happy living here again.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!
That looks like a good purchase to me. Happy holidays to you as well. Glad the dog issue is solved.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear from you Peter. Thank you for the holiday wishes. Happy Holidays to you too. P
DeleteHappy that you have resolved the pit bull problem. As to the cost of food, I would have to spend about $15 for similar items and some of them would have to be on sale. My neighborhood is considered reasonable. They would cost more in other parts of NYC. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a Healthy New Year.
ReplyDeleteThank you Donna. And wishing you too a wonderful holiday season. And also thanks for the information on food costs up your way. P
DeleteMerry Christmas PAT. How was the dog issue resolved--hope the dog is also being taken care of and didn't lose his life.
ReplyDeleteYou did good at the grocery store. I still value my Mexican Market Truck. He is less expensive than the American Grocery Store here. I wis he had Meat as well as the FRESH fruit and vegetables. And he comes right to my address.
I will send a photo of his truck. Looks just like a small Mexican Market Stall.
Hi Larry. I would like to see that photo. Don't worry, the pit bull is alive and well. We finally managed to block him out of this yard. Merry Christmas to you too. P
DeleteI will send photo tomorrow. Glad you got dog problem resolved successfully.
ReplyDeleteHi Larry, I am looking forward to the photo. My dog owner neighbor is on his second night of a continuous drunken loud party. I am about going out of my mind.... p
DeletePretty sure the milk and cereal alone would be close to $6 here in "central" (not quite northern) VA.

Hi Karen, Thank you for that information. My money wouldn't go very far up there now. The peso has just been devalued some and my money is worth even more here. Yesterday it was 19.72 to the dollar. Happy New Year to you. Thanks for keeping in touch all these years. P
DeleteThank you for keeping up your blog! I love learning about Mexico!

HI Karen, i hope you will come down one day. If you are free this summer, July, maybe Yao would like to dog and cat sit for me? Get a taste of living with the Mexicans? P
