Morning Thoughts
Chico looks like I feel, tired and out of focus. We had a hard night. I am house sitting for a friend. There are two cats and two dogs here, including Chico. They were up and down all night long.
The biggest cat woke me up at three a.m. to feed him. I automatically did it and then went back to sleep. This morning I had a very strange dream. I was living with a large group of people in a big house. They were all messy and didn't pick up after themselves. I was exhausted from going around picking up after them. My body was aching all over.
There was a tough biker who put on a band aid and dropped the paper from it on the floor. I got down on the floor to pick it up and he became very angry at me. He yelled, Stop being a victim! Then I woke up, aching all over, surrounded by all the restless animals. I am guessing that the biker was the big cat who insisted that I get up at three a.m. to feed him.
I decided not to get up tonight, no matter what he does. I have to stand up to all these animals. I would take Chico home to have one less animal to take care of but these are his friends. He would be lonely back there. Maybe if I learn to stand up to needy and bossy animals I could next learn to stand up to needy and bossy people. It is a life lesson I haven't quite learned yet.

I LOVE this post! Listen to your dreams!!
ReplyDeleteHi Lorrie. Thank you for making me laugh, at myself..... P
DeletePat,
ReplyDeleteI read this post and it cracked me up. My cat does the exactlysame thing, doing laps around the bed at 4am. This always wakes me up, since I'm a light sleeper. Then I can't go back to sleep. Now if does that, I toss him out and close the door. He used to get PO'd and do body-slams against the door in protest, to be let back in. But he's since given up on that since I ignore him. Just toss the other animals out of the room (except for maybe Chico), or you'll never get any sleep!

Hi Jim, Thank you for writing and for another belly laugh. Glad I am not the only one dealing with a demanding cat...... I go home tomorrow to my own place, just me and Chico. P
DeleteHi Pat:
ReplyDeleteThat cat has you all figured out LOL. Cats feel so entitled don't they?
Put them all in another room with the door closed and the litter box and water.
"The difference between cats and dogs:
The dog looks at you and thinks to himself,
"You feed me, you shelter me, you love me. YOU must be GOD!"
The cat looks at you and thinks to himself,
"You feed me, you shelter me, you love me. *I* must be GOD!"
Thank you for another laugh on this post. Very good observation..... P
DeleteI think my cat thinks I'm God.
ReplyDeleteHe just doesn't get why God would need to sleep. :-p
Jim
Hi Jim, Cute. Cats have no respect for sleep, at least for when others want to sleep. I believe it takes a lot more understanding to own a cat. Understanding and patience. Dogs are so much easier to figure out. P
DeleteI think you are right. On the bright side, it's a lot harder to hurt a cat's feelings. If you tossed a dog out of the room at night, he'd probably still feel guilty in the morning that he'd done something wrong. A cat would be like, "what? huh?". Guilt? A cat says "ain't got no time for that! Now just feed me-- we're good."
ReplyDeleteThank you for another comment on the nature of cats. They are so different from dogs. Funny stuff. P
DeleteHi Pat,
ReplyDeleteYour post and the replies made me laught. too! I seem to have the weirdest dreams if I wake up in the early morning and then go back to sleep. And there's nothing worse than waking up feeling tired from "working" (or in my case sometimes worrying or looking for something in dreams :)
Buenas noches,
Karen in VA
Hi Karen, Thanks for writing again. I too have had those kinds of dreams. One dream was always about going back to old homes and looking in the windows, feeling lost and alone. Another one that I often had was about being late for a test in school and not finding the right classroom. P
DeleteAnd then there's the ever-popular "going to work or school in your underwear (or less!)" dreams. I hate those!
DeleteJim
Hi Jim, Thanks for the laugh. For sure, I have had many dreams like that in my lifetime. P
