Going into the Rainy Season

I am house sitting now. My computer battery is expanding from the heat and I was told not to use my computer anymore. I have another one at this house to use but I don't know how to get photos onto my blog from them. So it looks like I am not going to be putting many photos on my blog until after I get this one up to the States to be repaired. The warranty is no good in Mexico.

My camera is breaking too. I just keep banging it on my hand. It is a temporary fix. A new camera is waiting for me in Portland. Looks like it is time to buy my plane ticket. I will go to Portland in July. In the meantime, looks like I am mostly going to be writing on this blog and putting on very few photos. If the battery gets too big it will blow out something important inside the computer. At least, that is what I was told by the repair department online. Why is it that everything seems to break at once?

  1. Can't someone there just remove the battery and in the mean time you use the power cord for it?

    1. Hi Brenda, Thank you for writing. It seems like an obvious answer but the people in the States won't honor my warranty if the computer has been tampered with down here. I want to go up and see my family anyway. Otherwise I would just buy another computer. It would be cheaper than going back to Portland. P

    2. I have an older HP (or is it Compaq?) laptop. It's got both logos. On this laptop, there is a little latch to remove/replace the battery, and it just slides out. Nothing needs to be dismantled so no warranty violation. Actually, everything is covered under the warranty except the battery!

    3. HI Jack, Thank you for your suggestion. This is a Mac and it isn't that simple. If I try to replace the battery myself the warranty is no good. I think I can make it until July when I get back to the States. P

  2. Hello again -
When will you be out of the country? We are coming to Ajijic on July 1 and I was hoping to meet you in person on this trip.

    Take care,
    Pat Y.

    1. Hi Pat, I am going to be house sitting about a block away from the Lake Chapala Society until July 5th. So maybe we will be able to meet there before I leave. Thanks. P

  3. Hi Pat:
I have had 3 digital cameras bum out on me. I then bought a Canon Powershot Elph on the advise of a friend. I have had it 4 years and dropped it twice on a cement patio and once on the wood floor. It works fine and takes very sharp photos. It is a little on the heavy side compared to some other brands, but maybe the casing is the reason there was no damage after being dropped.
I will miss your photos. P.

    1. Hi P. I am guessing my two Canon Elphs would have lasted that long except I have used them so much. I will still try to take some photos between now and the time that I get up to Portland. I too love the Elphs. They are so small and yet they take great photos. Thanks for writing. p
