The Train Station in Chapala

Above is the view from the back of the train station.

Emily and Dale are in the above photo.

I have been living here over two years now and today was the first time I visited the train station in Chapala. Emily took me there. I had no idea it was such a beautiful museum.

Chapala with Dale and Emily

This child was sitting outside the pool area. What a beautiful face.

The boys were enjoying the water. You can see that the water is green.

Above are photos of Christiana park and the pool. The pool water is cold and the entire bottom of it is covered in green moss. I wouldn't swim in it now. I hope they will clean it up soon because I love swimming in it.

The three photos above were taken at the American Legion in Chapala. Emily and Dale are waiting for breakfast. The food is delicious and reasonably priced.

I took the above photo in the morning when I took my morning walk with Chico. He is very happy to have me back home again. I missed him as much as he missed me.

The Berry Sales Transaction

On Sunday I had breakfast with my friend Judi at Salvador's Restaurant in Ajijic. They have a great breakfast buffet for seventy pesos. Judi bought some raspberries from the boy in the first photo. He had interrupted our conversation to try to get us to buy the berries. At first I was irritated about being pestered. We are always being pestered here and I was involved in a very serious conversation with Judi. Then I thought, I need to be more patient. So what if he interrupted our conversation? So what if his berries are overpriced? He is just trying to make a living. It is a lot better than people just asking for money. I need to remember that the next time I am approached by one of these high powered salesmen. I call them salesmen because they are doing a man's job. Too bad they can't just be children and be free to have fun. Instead they have to wander around town in the heat trying to sell things. It makes me feel sad.

Home Again

I am finally back to my little casita after a month of house sitting. As the old saying goes; There is no place like home. Even though it is just a two room place with no kitchen, it is still home to me. I came from a beautiful two story home where I last was house sitting but I am glad to finally be here with all my bags unpacked and Chico sleeping on a chair by my side. I loved all the little dogs I took care of but they still belonged to other people.

At different times I have considered not maintaining my own place, just going from one house sitting job to another but that isn't practical. I need to have a place of my own, even if I am only in it a few days a month. Several of my friends are thinking of moving in together so they can have nicer places than when they live alone. I think it is a good idea. But I am such a loner. I need my private space. I would rather live in a very small place alone than in a mansion with other people.

I can't handle stress. I can't handle problems that belong to others. I have enough stress and personal problems of my own. I just want a simple life. No television. No phone. No mail. No house mates.......I am glad to be home again.

Saturday Morning with Friends in the Ajijic Plaza

I had breakfast with Emily and Dale and the two dogs I am taking care of now. The black dog is Angel. She is eleven years old now but still going strong. The little dog is Pixie. She is just a year old. They are both sweet dogs and I am enjoying spending time with them. They love to go for walks.

Above is my new friend Sally. Her dog's name is Harry. I met Sally a few months ago when she told me about Harry being held up at the Guadalajara airport for several days. She was very upset at the time. She now lives in Ajijic. She and Harry both look happy now.

I took the two above photos at a yard sale next to the Lake Chapala Society. Everything, naturally, was expensive. Yard sales here are very disappointing.

The little boy above was taking a break from selling his green beans.

The two photos above were taken in the plaza. It was a beautiful morning. In the afternoon I took a ride with the dogs and Emily to Jocotopec. We were looking for places to rent. We didn't find anything but it was a fun afternoon. Emily wants to move to a larger house with a yard in the country. Now she lives in the heart of Ajijic. Rentals are expensive here. It is hard to find anything for less than eight hundred dollars a month. I am thinking about going to some towns around the lake to see if things are cheaper. I love Ajijic but prices keep going up.
