We joke that summer in Seattle doesn't officially begin until July 5th, when the weather has finished ruining your 4th of July picnic. But after that, it's amazing.

While you're in Portland you should definitely take the light rail downtown and check out all the great food carts that have sprung up all around downtown Portland. It's really turned into a foodie's paradise in the last couple of years.

JimS.
SeattleAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2026591328777526500.post-26175937939844206752013-06-15T12:53:34.703-05:002013-06-15T12:53:34.703-05:00Curl up with some hot tea and some feel good movie...Curl up with some hot tea and some feel good movies - maybe make hot chocolate! I would add my "profile" if I knew how! I live in Issaquah,Wa. I've been to Lake Chapala 2 or 3 times and loved it. Wanted to move there too, wasn't brave enough to do it alone. I also get lonely and bored some times. Reading, watching a movie or traveling all over on the computer save me. Also I love to cook
and that is entertainment to me. Our weather is like Portland----too gray and rainy too often for me too. Pease don't quit writing!!! We did not lose electricity during the last rain storm - we lost it early this morning about 6am with no rain in sight. I woke up because the fan stopped running, then I checked the light switch and no lights. Decided to go to the market at La Huerta and we got ready with no power for the shower to pump, and no warm water anyway. Just as we were leaving the house, the power came back on about 10:30. Who knows why. The power was off on the whole street (don't know where else), but it was interesting how quiet it was - no neighbor's radio or TV. Watch some American TV - certainly better than the TV in Ajijic. Look up Portlandia......very odd show set in Portland, of course.
Your friend in Ajijic,
PatAnother Pat in Ajijichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08673751941189106493noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2026591328777526500.post-32786215599542306152013-06-14T14:04:56.646-05:002013-06-14T14:04:56.646-05:00I agree with Connie! Of course, my idea of a perfect day is 55 degrees, gray skies, and a steady mist.

Don't you have a Mexican driver's license? You could certainly rely on it to take the car out. A jump off the train to walk the Zoo and park is cool too.
Continue to enjoy the little things. I am happy here in Alaska for the summer with unlimited cold cold water from the tap...no ice needed and little things like flushing the paper! My Mexico family at the house in Jalisco are suffering from the heat and humidity and the start of the rainy season thunder storms and power outs too! Too bad you gave up your driver's license. It's not easy to get around without a car in the states. Perhaps one of the housemates could take you to the DMV so you can take the test and get a license. You need proof of citizenship tho.. Do you have a US passport? Maybe that's all you'll need. Might be worth checking out while you're here.Donnahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03769115434962946736noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2026591328777526500.post-29496527840191464592013-06-14T10:25:52.633-05:002013-06-14T10:25:52.633-05:00Ahh, it's okay.
